Part of what made the experience so good was at the beginning of the show the director of the theater she was playing at came out and asked everyone to stay off their phones. Ushers were like hawks and would tell people to put their phones away even for texting. It was awesome. Everyone was just there taking it in.
Awesome, thanks for following up! I'm stoked.

A year or two ago I saw her play on Jools Holland's show and was blown away, so started watching more of her live performances on YouTube. Really looking forward to seeing her perform in person.

Got excited when I saw that...

Big Head Todd & the Monsters and Toad the Wet Sprocket were doing the co-headlining thing again.

...then I saw the dates...mostly central states and the south...nothing we can get to easily OR that fits with our current schedule. Would love to do RI, but we're @ Wolf Trap the night before for Ben Harper, won't be changing that at all.

1/28 Metallica PNC Arena Raleigh, NC
    2/15-2/17 D&T Mexico x3
3/15 Eric Church Greensboro Coliseum Greensboro, NC
3/17 Mumford & Sons PNC Arena Raleigh
    4/2 Gary Clark Jr. DPAC
4/13 Zac Brown Band Walnut Creek
4/20 Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Volvo car stadium Charleston
    5/11 Dave Matthews Band Nashville
5/23 Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band Walnut Creek Raleigh
5/31 Hootie & The Blowfish Walnut Creek
6/28-6/29 Dave Matthews Band Deer Creek
    7/19 Dave Matthews Band Charlotte
    7/20 Dave Matthews Band Bristow
    8/23-8/24 Dave Matthews Band Denver

Man what a weekend of shows with two firsts for me. Was impressed with how long Eric Church played and Mumford really brought the energy (drunk audience on St. Patrick's day didn't hurt) and the state setup made it quite intimate for an arena show.

    Nah - that's standup.

Same thing with plays or musicals - that's a theater production.

    Soccer Mommy - Feb. 26
    Ruston Kelly - March 10
    Weezer & The Pixies - March 26
    Bon Iver - April 4
Better Oblivion Community Center - April 7
    Interpol - May 2
    Snail Mail - July 17
    Kacey Musgraves - Sept. 4

I saw Ruston Kelly in Kansas City last week, and it's the best show I've seen in KC since Arcade Fire a few years ago. I don't think I'd like it nearly as much if he were an opener, but he played like 22 songs and performed the hell out of them. I love his studio stuff, but those songs really translated well live. If he tours near you and he's not opening, go see it. Great, great show. He's basically my replacement for Ryan Adams these days.

I'll be catching him at Bonnaroo. His live stuff on YouTube made me skeptical - he sounded flat on a lot of his tunes.

While this is normal spot on, I feel like Hamilton really straddled the line. It was non-stop music from start to finish. As much a concert as it was a play/musical. Between the band and the singing, it was definitely different than any previous musical I've experienced.

I've seen some of the stuff online, and it's mostly him playing solo. When he's backed by the full band, it's full and not flat at all. His voice really stretches on stuff like "Black Magic" and "Cover My Tracks." It's hard to describe, but it's everything I look for in an alt-country live show.

Big Head Todd and Toad ARE playing Wolf Trap and we will be THERE!!!

Andrew Bird coming to the Anthem in DC on Sept. 14...that's a go as well. This year might cat h up with last year's 11 DMB, 3 Avetts, 2 Toad, 1 BNL...

Looking at 5 DMB (so far), 3 Avetts (so far), 1 Ben Harper (so far), 1 BHTM and Toad, and 1 Andrew Bird. The Avetts just announce their trip to the DR from Feb 27-March 1 of 2020, and if we can and choose to swing that we might skip their NYE shows this year.

5th row center for Jeff Tweedy solo show last night. Played 30 songs, all requests from people in line, no repeats from the Friday night show. Played for 2 straight hours and we were in the car by 10:15. My kind of show.

Ruston Kelly is a god damn hero. Hoping to catch him at least once more before the year is over. Big things coming his way if he can release another killer album.
