What makes you think this? How else would he sing it?

First pass on the lyrics. I like the 'uniqueness' of the sound on this. Lyrically, nothing special, but I dig it. Will probably be a nightmare live, but we'll see.

I’m betting in the live version they’ll incorporate horn parts and make it something special

Falsetto in this live could be like the last verse of Jimi live which doesn’t sound horrible

After a couple listens it isn't that bad. It isn't good, but it's not awful. I'll report back on how it sounds live since it will debut in Atlanta.

Like it or love it, I think this is the most polarizing song in DMB history lol

I'm sorry but there is no quality to this song that would warrant playing it four times in a row. This song is terrible. I mean I've been a cheerleader for this band for a long time (hell I even like Be Yourself) but this is indefensible. It's literally the first time I've heard a DMB song and been embarrassed to listen to it.

Hate to say it but I'm in this camp. I've been an apologist for alot of the hated stuff on here but not today. Just awful, but my main question is why is this Dave solo song on a DMB album instead of Some Devil 2.0?

Put me in the camp that digs it. I like the stripped down feel. Honestly, this might be my favorite of the new songs so far.

The riff and guitar is fun- I wonder what people would think of this song if it had Dave's 1998 vocals instead of 2018
Yeah im interested to see what the approach will be live.

This may be a song that doesnt get much play past this summer.

Between studio cuts of TGIY and SC, it feels like this record is going to be more compatible with Some Devil than the big three on shuffle.

Anyone know if this is the song Batson asked to be played over and over again and cried... or whatever that weirdo said/did?

Listening again and the groove is pretty cool. Dave's vocals set it back but it's groovy musically.

as i continue to reflect on this, and to state a variation on a theme i've already stated, i think one of the reasons i'm really digging the song is because it's so different. to each their own but the notion that someone could prefer SU machine guns or HFTGL over this is a total mind f**k to me. everything about this song is a refutation of the modern recipe for pop music in a similar way as dmb's early work was a refutation of the grunge movement at the time.... this feels like dave being dave, not dave being something he's supposed to be. and whoever said that AFTW was boring nailed it. that captures it for me. there is nothing about this song that is boring or mailed in. it's authentic. i'm obviously a fan.

If Dave had sang this on some grainy handycam at a bookstore in 1993, people would’ve spent the last 25 years begging for it to be on an album.

Okay. Not sure it would necessarily make it any better, but I could see him doing that.

Musically, DMB has never disappointed me. This song included. I bet it will be fun to see performed live, namely any sort of jam that goes along with it.

Vocally, lyrically ... I'm not surprised by this track in 2018.

So I'm wondering now if posh-guy's (can't remember his full user name), who provided a clip of TGIY and noted the terrible vocals, was also correct about bkdkdkdd just being the scatting of Be Yourself.

This album is shaping up to be rough.

Samurai Cop - okay, but a pretty "meh" opener
Can't Stop - bottom 5 song in the band's catalogue
Here On Out - okay, but doesn't seem like a DMB song
That Girl is You - trash, utter trash. Embarrassing to listen to
She - A Pearl Jam cover-band's original song, which is actually pretty decent
Idea of You - Great song, assuming it has the correct drums and good lyrics
Virginia in the Rain - A Radiohead cover-band's original song, which is pretty uninteresting musically
Again and Again - Great tune, funky and packs a punch
bkdkdkdd - Maybe scatting, maybe a 27 second clip of Roi. Either way, meh
Black & Blue Bird - Good song, but the run time is worrisome. The outro makes this song, if it isn't there the song is mediocre at best
Come On Come On - Unknown
Do You Remember - Pretty good song, like Bismarck pt 2 IMO, just not as good
Come Tomorrow - I like the music, the lyrics are corny as hell. Interested to see what Brandi brings
When I'm Weary - Unknown, but a Dave solo piano song is the rumor.
