For a Private Event/Corporate Gig - Is there a price on the setlist?

I was thinking about the recent corporate gig that the band played, and I thought, damn, the fans would be mad if they got a great setlist.

Then I thought - if I had tons and tons of money, and I could hire Dave solo or Dave and tim for a gig, could I choose (within reason) a setlist to be played if I payed a lot more?

Like, BTCS front to back. All the songs have been played this year... so, with an extra million or something, do you think it could happen?

I think I read somewhere that one of the bat mitzfahs he played they requested like 4 of the 8 songs he played or something, so I'm sure it's possible to an extent.

The vast majority of people that were at this event wanted to hear these songs, even if they threw a song like Pig in the mix most people wouldn't have had an idea what was going on. Anyone else ask themselves where the fuck has Billies gone? 16 times played full band in 2010 weird.

I totally understand that the band played the best songs for the crowd the other night. I am wondering, if I had a billion dollars to play with, could I get the band to play me (and my DMB friends) a setlist of BTCS straight through, or a 10 song set of reasonably rare tunes like Stone, Spoon, PFWYG, Recently, etc

It definitely feels lower than it should be, but look at the almanac for the past 10 years, it's gotten very consistent numbers for that play count. (and then look at 94... holy shit)

I'd imagine that at the point you're taking money to play somebody's bat mitzvah or any other private event, you probably wouldn't be too upset if they also told you what to play. I just can't imagine the sentiment being "sure, we'll take your money and play your high school gymnasium/American Legion Hall/Auxilliary Convention Center, but WE PLAY WHAT WE WANT!"

What if we got like 10 billionaires to each hire DMB for a corporate party/private event, but each one of them told the band, separately and independently of each other, that they could play whatever they wanted as long as they didn't play any songs from Stand Up, Cornbread, Eh Hee, Can't Stop, or more than three BW songs?

If you handed them a billion bucks, I'm sure they'd play whatever you wanted.

If I won the powerball that would be the first thing I would do.. I would find out just how much dave likes cash.. If I could rent full band and pick a 20 song set... Lets say I got 250 after taxes I would start at 5 million and then go maybe up to 50

I'm inclined to believe that if you chat with Dave and Tim when they arrive to your party, and prove yourself as a fan that really knows the catalogue... Seeing as you're a paying donor to their art, I don't see why they would object to playing BTCS all the way through.

It's not like they would feel uncomfortable or rusty on any of those songs.

But if you were to ask for spotlight, people people and machead... Dave might politely tell you to fuck off.

A custom set is really worth $50M to you? Geez. I'd say $1.5M tops if that was chump change to me.

Maybe he was, but I assume what he means is that at a corporate gig that the people there only know the hit DMB songs, if any. So yes, logically they would want to hear those songs.

if i had the means i would throw a load of money at the band to play, i wouldnt ask to pick the setlist though, i would however to throw in 3-5 songs i wanted

honestly just getting to meet em, kick with with em, and chat is worth way more to me than hearing any album or setlist

I don't know if I agree with that. You have to think... if this corporation is willing to pay however many hundreds of thousands of dollars to get dMb to play their little party, there are probably dMb fans within the corporation who will be at the party and who wouldn't mind hearing songs that don't fall into the "hit" category.

Either that or the corporation just spent however many hundreds of thousands of dollars for the name brand of dMb. Which is just stupid if nobody there is really a fan.
