Personal note: 11 years ago my brother was involved in a police shooting, killed a black man. Similar circumstances to this story. (My brother was cleared by grand jury but he never returned to the field) I always have a personal reaction to police shootings that make the news.
Even being from “one side”, I’m able to look at each side as best I can before I make judgment on the decision to shoot. Transparency and accountability are 100% needed and I hope we continue to move in the right direction.
It’s important to remember that these incidents effect both families. Changes them forever. Selfishly, I’m glad my brothers incident happened prior Michael Brown which I fee was a big turning point. Dealing with just the local media/community was awful.
Anyways, like I said this story just hits real close. /late night ramble
