So the team behind the Unreal Engine may just be forcing the hands of the next gen console makers. Unreal Engine 3 is what a huge amount of this generation's games run on. I don't have exact numbers, but it's fair to say it's the most common engine out there. And they've been releasing information on Unreal Engine 4. That "Samaritan" video I posted on the last page, that was on a heavily modified version of UE3. And the team has said that it required hardware capable of producing 2.5 teraFLOPs to run it. The 360 can do .25 teraFLOPs. So just to run something that's still on UE3, a new system would have to be 10x more powerful. Again, the Unreal Engine has been the go-to engine for a ton of studios since UE1. If they want systems to be at least 10x more powerful, they have a good chance of forcing the issue.
