I really don't get the hate. It's one of the more poignant patriotic songs I've come across.

How young and innocent our country is compared to the rest of the world. And how quickly that innocence crumbled post 9/11. How easily this freedom we take for granted could fall.

Fenway version of both AB and ABI have legitamently put tears on my cheeks. "Seems God doesn't smile down on anymore than this, so stay my American Baby" is an incredible improv outro from that night.
