Jacksonville is a weird town. It's fucking huge in terms of land mass. There are really cool places throughout. Actually there is a pretty solid food scene that has developed here. But there's nothing good downtown, really. And it's not walkable at all. Catch an uber or cab. San Marco, Five Points, the Beaches are all good places as others have pointed out. If I weren't from around here, I'd probably stay out at the Beaches and drive in. Parking will be fine. I'm almost certain you will have to pay to park if driving. I've never been to anything downtown that I didn't have to pay to park.
