Re: Marvel's Iron Fist (Netflix)
Just finished this about 20 min ago.
I give it a 6/10, it's worth watching if you like the other Netflix shows but it's not great.
After seeing how it ends it makes me wish they had done some other things differently.
Spoilers inside:
I didn't love Finn Jones as Danny Rand. I wish they had gotten a better actor. He's not the worst, and improves as the season progresses. Everyone else on the cast was fine.
After the first episode they should have done two episodes focusing on (or completely in) the past. Let us see young Danny, his parents, and the Meachums. Spend a episode letting us get to know and care about them. Then do a second episode where Wendell starts piecing everything together, and deciding to fly to China. We never get a sense of what Danny actually lost.
I'd have also liked an episode focusing on his time training, and more importantly showing how Davos was like a brother to him. Danny says he shouldn't have left, and maybe we care about that if we know the characters. Plus if Davos is a bigger part of the show it makes the ending a huge cliffhanger.
I see tons of potential, but bad story telling kept it from being great.
