It is for a lot of people, perhaps even most people. That's not an excuse to pay people dogshit wages for their labor though, IMO. It's been my sole job for the past year, fwiw.
We actually have a significant amount of drivers here in Austin that commute in from Houston to drive for the local companies, instead of staying in Houston and driving for Uber. That's how shitty Uber pays.
