Disagree with Central America/South America. Central America maybe 10-15 years ago, yes.
I've been to all of Central America sans Honduras and Belize and Venezuela and Columbia and never once felt unsafe. In fact some of the nicest most gracious ppl I have EVER met where in towns in interior El Salvador. Its really unfortunate that some outdated news coverage can ruins a whole countries reputation. Panama City is one of the safest cities in the world now.
