think its pretty telling of the last 15+ years the band has not been able to produce an Ants or a Nancies that becomes on par with a more recent lineup.
I always use 2007 as a measuring point year for when DMB IMO sounded like DMB before Tim Reynolds/ Wall of Sound/ alien noises became more apparent in 2008

They sounded infinitely better in June of 2008 than at any point in 2007, including the tour opener in Mansfield which is the worst DMB show I've ever seen. I do agree with you about the band turning into a wall of noise and completely losing what they were, just feel that it happened a little later than your timeline suggests.
