Re: Come Tomorrow producers teaser
Did I miss it in the original promotion of “Stand Up” where it was called a hip-hop concept album at the time? Batson calls it that in this clip, and now that record (and why I didn’t like it) makes so much more sense. If the producer (and the band) set out to purposefully make a hip hop meets DMB record, then I understand why it turned out the way it did. I remember thinking, “With a drummer like Carter, why on earth are you using a drum machine and samples?”
So I guess it wasn’t really that Batson didn’t “get” the band. It was an intentional effort to make a hip-hop record, and “Stand Up” was the result.
Wonder if the whole band was on board with that decision, or if, like “Everyday,” it was Dave + a new producer deciding between the two of them what the record would sound like, and the rest of the band had to follow along.
