It also plays into why Jay would even come forward as being involved. If Adnan WAS innocent, why would Jay implicate himself as an accessory basically? Just to seem more real, and then pray to be offered a deal or something? Seems risky. So there had to have been some involvement.

Not sure I buy the theory, but i agree that one of the most peculiar parts of this whole thing is how much Adnan tries to distance himself from Jay. He's either doing it strategically and lying or he just has a warped view of friendships (which doesn't seem to be the case).

Like you said, these guys smoked weed with each other on the reg, Adnan lent Jay his car and phone frequently it seems, Jay picked up Adnan from school/track practice very regularly; and despite all of this, Adnan acts like Jay is just somebody that he knew in passing and was an acquaintance or a friend of a friend.

It just seems like Adnan is deliberately trying to downplay his relationship with a guy that considers himself the "criminal element" of that area. Not that I blame him in this case, but regardless of how close you were with this guy, it doesn't make any sense in terms of backing up your story.
