Although just from his talent (and clear enthusiasm) of mimicry alone, he does several great impressions, so I have little trouble believing he could pull off American.

Yeah this was great casting. Glad they could finally confirm this! I don't know the nationality of Dr. Strange though.

I know he was name dropped in Winter Soldier so its possible he is an American? Most likely won't matter in the end.
