Funny, I had a thought while reading through some of the cluster-fuck that is the NFL discussions ongoing around here lately. We (as the collective hockey fans on ants) are certainly the most reasonable, and respectful group, when compared to NFL/NBA/MLB threads.

I'm beyond thankful that this thread doesn't degrade into a pissing match each day, and there is more than enough room and smarts for some intelligent hockey discussion.

Oh for sure we are. Probably cause most of us in here are hardcore fans who understand the game and can respect each other. Casual fans are great and love the sport but they don't REALLY understand it and see the big picture.

Totally agree guys. It's funny - this is really the only place I come online regularly to talk hockey... and it's not even a hockey site. We'll disagree and bicker a bit here and there, but I think we all have an understanding that it's for fun. Made some cool friends here (all you regulars). :thumbsup

Totally. This is for sure the only place I come to talk hockey. I was thinking about that yesterday actually. One of the Detroit media FB pages (Fox Sports Detroit I think) posted an article about DeKeyser being on IR and was going to be out a minimum of 10 games/24 days because of the IR rules. So many people there saying how the season was over and all of this stuff. I was thinking, yeah sucks he's out, but if 24 days is all he's out he'll be back before Christmas so still have half the season to go. And yes while he's important, he's not a Datsyuk or Zetterberg. And not to mention with after losing 5 OT/SO games in a row, sandwiched by 2 regulation losses they were still in the WILD CARD! These are Wings fans talking. I used to go to a Wings site too but they too got on my nerves. Amazing so many people think they are so smart. The stuff they'd say about certain players or how they'd think they were smarter than Holland. Just cause you would give up an assload for some rental player doesn't mean the GM of the most successful NHL franchise over the last 20+years should or even would.

there is an obvious reason for that too but we don't need to get into that.

Nice win for CBJ last night. I reluctantly stayed up to watch but glad I did. The 1st and 2nd periods was some of the best hockey they've played all season. Fatigue got to them in the 3rd but they found a way to get 2.

It's amazing that you can look so bad one night and then win the next haha

Doesn't matter if the Caps win or lose, as long as the President's Trophy is there's at the end of the season.

Also I netted a dramatic OT winner in my league last night to clinch a playoff spot for our team. It was awesome. Hockey is just the best sport play, I literally cannot believe the amount of emotion that even a men's rec league can stir up.

Nice job, man! There is no better feeling than being on the ice... except for maybe being on the ice and scoring a winning goal. Coming from a guy who doesn't score a ton - it's an awesome feeling. Congrats and good luck in the playoffs.

You totally went triple deke Charlie Conway style I'm guessing. Penalty shot in OT. Helmet off.

:lol exactly.

truth be told there was just a scramble in front off a rebound and i backhanded one right through the five-hole. I was easily the most surprised person on the ice. I remember looking at the goalie as we both heard it hit back of the net, he looked at me like I had just stabbed him :lol

Bought my tickets this morning to Islanders/Rangers at Yankee Stadium. 158 bucks apiece. Lower level behind the bullpen in left center. I had always said if they ever played at Yankee Stadium, I'd be there. Of course, Billy Joel announced this week he is playing MSG next year and the wife and I have him on the bucket list. We are also spending like 4 grand on a February vacation for our 10th wedding anniversary so I'm torn about spending the money, especially if they are gonna have these games more often. Plus, it's a wednesday night so I have to take time off of work. We'll see. I can't imagine missing it and the wife is urging me to go so I'm sure I'll be there, even if we are 100 games out of a playoff spot by then.

dominated this multi-quote!

agree on CBJ, points in 6 of their last 7 and getting healthier. (except for Gaborik but fuck him anyways).

you really should join a beginners league. im sure they have great rec leagues in pittsburgh.

I learned how to skate a year ago and joined a beginners adult beer league this past year. Lots of fun and everybody is out their to help each other and have fun. The one I was a part of took place at the Blade Runners up in Cranberry/Warrendale. There are plenty of others though throughout the city, just a matter of hitting up your local rink and asking who organizes their rec. leagues.

The league I was in was cheap as hell too, only like $35 for a short 6 game season. Cheaper than paying for ice time at the very least.
