Lulz nice to see Edwards and all the other Nucks fans are still rattled by Marchand. And I hate to break it to you Brohan but Semin went down rather easily and got a call last night too. And in terms of being a piece of shit. Chimera giving Marchand a cup check in a scrum takes the cake.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
DJ - Have we ever talked about how much I love the Bruins lower two lines? I mean, there are some good third lines out there, but Rolston/Pouliot/Kelly has been out of this world.
But what I love even more is there 4th line of Paille/Campbell/Thornton... it's rare when you have a 4th line that is a legitimate threat every time they're on the ice. Most 4th lines exist essentially to give the other lines a break and perhaps provide some energy... but there is legitimate chemistry for the Bruins 4th line. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I absolutely cannot say enough about those 2 lines. You can't ask for more out of your bottom 6. The 3rd line really started clicking when Rolston came on board. He was an under the radar acquisition and I wasn't expecting much but he's been unbelievable since we picked him up.

I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day about what this team would look like with a healthy Savard and Horton. It'd be absolutely ridiculous.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
You look at the "under-the-radar" acquisitions Chiarelli has made over the past few seasons: Seidenberg, Kelly, Peverley, Rolston, Campbell, Zanon ... Not to mention Horton. The guy knows how to make the right moves to complement a roster.
Some GMs get the idea of making a "big" move, but not necessarily the "right" one. Chiarelli seems to get the concept of making a move to complement a current roster, instead of breaking it apart. Underrated GM. :thumbsup |

I'm not trying to be siding with the Caps on this one, but...
Marchand's diving last night was a fucking embarrassment. Just awful. If the refs would penalize that shit, it would really cut down on it because right now it's a huge issue around the league. And Semin is a clown for calling Marchand a diver after he drew a penalty with his own bullshit dive. :rolleyes |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Every team has divers in todays NHL. Until the league does something about it it'll keep happening.

It's still pretty embarrassing to pull that shit twice on the same shift like that. Marchand is trying to challenge Kesler, I guess. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Marchand telling Semin "you should know" when Semin giving him crap about diving was hilarious last night.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I don't get how the NHL has a rule for diving and yet they rarely enforce it. Or if they do they take the other guy too. If you are diving then the guy really didn't hook you. I understand they could be seeing it as he was hooked a little and just embellished but if you want this out of the game call it and don't take the other guy. It's not gonna stop a guy from doing that if it just makes it 4on4. If you start giving the other team PP's because you want to win an Oscar that could help stop it.

Good for Toews for saying that. Shanahan's decision-making process and putting so much weight on the injury is just so backwards and fucked. You can easily see how players are becoming confused as to what is dirty and suspendable and what is just a penalty. A dirty hit is a dirty hit whether it causes injury or not. Christ, I just don't understand how the league doesn't get this. Not to mention the fact that it sets a terrible example for teams to hold players out of practice in order to get the opposing player suspended. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I say just send your star players out there waving their sticks around. Just make sure the guy doesn't miss any games with injuries. Knock out a few teeth so he misses some shifts and you're golden.
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
either they stop calling tripping penalties altogether... or ref's have the freedom to decide whether or not its worth calling it (dive), but then the ref's could be accused of helping one of the teams more than the other....
rules can be fucked up in every sport lol |

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I'm sure it's been brought up, but if they aren't sure if it's a dive why not try video review?
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
The games would take 4 hours if they did that.
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
They wouldn't be reviewing every single call tho
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
You'd be reviewing non calls to see if the guy dove as well as all trips, hooks, high sticks etc. There's no way they could review that, and in the end it would still be a judgement call. Sometimes what is interpretted as diving Kay just be a guy losing an edge or something.
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
The times where they are going to call both diving and hooking or whatever just call the diving. Yeah it would piss people off but again change isn't painless. Goes back to the Weber suspension. You give him 2 games yeah it could hurt the Preds but you want things out of the game you need to man up.
