Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
And now they miss an easy call against the Kings. Someone wants L.A. to be division champs.
EDIT: And another fight, and another extra two on our guy. Awesome. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Yay LA!! (Dustin just lost his cousin, thru marriage, the other day. 21 year old marine, was a victim of a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.) I couldn't imagine playing right now.

Pens!!!!

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Torts called the Pens an "arrogant organization". :lol :lol :lol

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Gotta say though, despite calls I find less than impressive, Sharks are being outplayed right now and probably deserve to be down 1-0.

:lol I love torts.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I'd take Lemieux over anyone. No homer.

Edit: ^ Transitive property (maybe?) for the win! Though if the Pens fall to the Flyers, the Rangers likely wouldn't get the Flyers until Round 3, because I do not see the Devils falling to the Panthers. But it's the playoffs! Crazy shite happens. |

Though when you get to the level of greatness of a Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Orr, I find it hard to rank. They're all really freaking great. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Just noticed that Montreal has 76 points with a goal differential of -17, while Florida has 92 points with a goal differential of -27. How does that happen?

Hawks are locked into the 6th seed now. If LA wins tonight in regulation it means we can't play San Jose in the first round and its down to LA or Phoenix. Looking more and more like we're gonna play LA in the first round.

Crazy crazy game. 5-5 in OT right now. Thornton and Clowe both get Gordie Howe Hat Trick, and Clowe just played the puck away from Stoll while he was on the bench and didn't get caught. :lol

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Sharks win in shootout, now if Phoenix loses to the Blues tomorrow, Saturday's LA@SJ game will be for the Pacific title and the 3 seed.

Maybe he should be more worried about the play of his team. He loves crying to the media. All im hearing is wahh wahh whahhh.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Lemieux as the greatest of all time :lol Yea he is amazing and what he did back in 1993 is unheard of. I think we should be lucky that gocubs doesn't have something against Lemieux or there would have been a ridiculous thread about how he faked cancer.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
As for the Lemieux vs. Gretzky debate, I've always fell on the side of Mario and that is surely no knock on Gretzky. Kind of hard to knock the Great One. Wayne's numbers were absolutely ridiculous but he did play in the biggest offensive era in NHL history. Gretzky also never won anything without Messier and played with one of the biggest collections of talent in expansion era.
Mario, meanwhile put up superhuman numbers early on playing with the likes of Rob Brown and Wendell Young, not Kurri, Messier and Coffey. IF he remained healthy, his numbers would be a lot better and would loved to have seen where he wound up. And the last 1/3rd of his career was during the trap and clutch & grab era. He was still dominant. Off the ice, yeah Mario saved the Penguins but by Wayne going to LA, he saved that franchise and enabled the NHL to expand and make hockey work in so many other markets the NHL never dreamed it could expand to. Sort of a wash. I'm a Mario guy. Watched that five goal game live vs the Rags back in 1993. Amazing. How my Islanders beat him and that team to deny them the chance for a 3 peat sadly remains the highlight of my Islander fandom. Was just a little too young for those cups teams. What a series. |
