Are we talking clean or dirty? If it's a dirty hit fine I can see that but guys go after him for the clean ones a lot. Why do they do that? Why in todays NHL do we see guys have to "answer" for big hits? "I have to defend my teammate for the completely legal and clean hit." I was watching Vladimir Konstantinov hits on youtube the other day and most of the time he skated away after the hits when they were clean and no one said shit to him. If players feel the need to defend the vicious but clean hits then maybe we should get rid of checking. When I started watching hockey the fighting was to defend a dirty play not just because you got hit too hard.

As for him not fighting, even after a dirty hit, that's up to him I guess. Should he? Yeah I'm ok with saying that he probably should but at the same time if guys are gonna come after him for clean hits then he has to right to walk away after the dirty ones.

So, apparently Mario was on a radio show tonight and let the cat out of the bag and said something along the lines of "hopefully he's ready to go this weekend" for Sid, and that he has been symtom free for a few weeks now.

pretty good news for the pens. i think this time will be different because it more had to due with an undiagnosed neck injury than a concussion.

Was gonna post these last night but stupid wind knocked out my interwebs. For Matty... and for the difference in the game from 15 years.

On Lemieux:

On Forsberg:

If that were to happen today to anyone there would be a riot.

From James Mirtle:"If the season ended today, Leafs would have the seventh pick. Toronto has only drafted higher than 10th twice in the last 20 years"

That's not true they had a top 10 pick in each of the last two years....haha

Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight for Kessel. :lol

And don't get me wrong they got a proven goal scorer in him and Burke hoped that would have been enough to get them into the playoffs then those picks wouldn't have been nearly as valuable. BUT that didn't happen. The future of the Leafs would have been much better with those kids for sure.

The Kessel trade is still hilarious to everyone whose not a Leafs fan.

:thumbsup FANTASTIC stuff, despite the teams involved ;). Yeah, Konstantinov would've been mauled in today's NHL for clean, hard hits like that. I forgot just how destructive he was in his hey day. One of the smartest hitters in recent memory, IMO.

Also, classic clutch and grab NHL on that Forsberg hit, eh? The guy hooking him all the way up the ice. :lol

LOL I was thinking the same thing when I was watching that. It wasn't much of a hook for back then, but when watching it I was thinking two minutes right there for Sandstrom and someone going after Vladdie for the hit.

Yeah, that was just every day NHL back then. A true testament of how tough of skaters some of these guys were that they could wade through all that crap.

Also a testament to Forsberg's toughness and courage... he looks to his left, he's got the boards, to his right he's got Sandstrom, and right in front of him... Konstantinov. I can only imagine the thought that must've gone through his head as he noticed all this... "Oh Sh--" (gets nailed). :lol Nowhere to go but forward or backward, and kudos to him for keeping it going, even knowing it was going to end painfully.

Another loss for the Wings Friday. Still no Bert, Lidstrom, Dastyuk or Howard. But according to Babcock are close. Lidstrom and Datsyuk are the most important out of those. Especially the way Joey Mac has been playing.

:lol:lol God you are such a downer about everything. It's not like the guy is going to go from a stationary bike to being cleared for contact. It's signs of progression. Skating is a good thing.

Yeah, saw that. Tough luck for the kid. Luckily, they've kinda learned to play without him after that last injury. But we could definitely use him entering this stretch (Avs have 16 games in the month of March, most against playoff-bound teams).

Thankfully they're finding production in new places... McGinn (thanks Erik!) has 3 goals in 2 games, and Downie's been fantastic since he arrived. Landeskog is also making a late season push for the Calder. He's far and away the best all-around player among this year's rookie class.

Columbus Blue Jackets are replacing "Carter" nameplates with a "Johnson" nameplate for free tonight at the arena for fans who have a Carter jersey.

It's a pretty classy thing for the organization to do since Carter was here for about 55 games.
