Luongo is just a bitch clearly he went to the coach and said he wanted no part of this game or the coach came to him and told him that. Plus Scheider played much better against the Bruins in the finals last year.

He is a little bitch who is pretty overrated. He got a huge paycheck from the Cancuks after never even making the playoffs.

And I'm kinda glad this realignment wasn't approved mainly because it would be weird seeing one of these five teams miss the playoffs: NYR, WAS, PIT, PHI, NJ

So I got to ask Michael Leighton a few questions last night and I also manned up and asked him about his thoughts on returning to Philly. Leights is a very nice guy btw. Really great attitude despite playing in the AHL:

And that would be fine if teams didn't have to switch conferences. But it really blows for the Jets who get yet another year of the SE division. I'm beyond interested to see what happens if PHX goes to Quebec. Do we have Winnipeg in the SE and Quebec in the Pacific? That would actually benefit Detroit, Chicago and Columbus. lol

Awful call. The Canucks are an embarassment to the game of hockey. Id be perfectly fine with the bruins losing thiw game 10-2 if they just come out in the 3rd and beat the piss out of those pussies.

Vancouver is afraid to drop the gloves and this is your typical Sedin game. Pile up the points on the PP when no one can touch you.

Clearly Boston is a bigger and tougher team, why would the canucks try to out-rough them? it didnt work in the finals...

You should have asked him if he thinks he will ever play in the NHL again after he went AWOL on the Flyers after Game 6 against Buffalo last year...

Well if you read the last quote in the story, he still wants a shot:

“Obviously I wanted to be here and it didn’t work out,” Leighton said. Any time you get to come back - and at the end there I was walking off and people were cheering for me. That’s a good feeling. Obviously I want to come back someday so hopefully things will work out.”

Oh I'm sure he still wants a shot...

That's why I would have been interested to see what he would have said to the question

What a let down for the flyers today. Giving up four unanswered goals in the final period is not something that Peter Laviolette is going to like very much. :lol

Nothing like two games in a row where the Flyers forget to show up/forget there are 60 mins to a game.....

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Not NHL related, but hockey related, and very close to me at the moment. This might be a little bit of a read, not sure how much I want to type out yet, but I wanted to share this with hockey folk that I know:

This past week and a half (or so) I spent in upper Wisconsin and Minneapolis with my girlfriend and her family. Shortly after I got there (couple days) we learned of one of my girlfriend's brother's close friends being checked from behind, and potentially facing paralysis for the rest of this life from the hit. He was apparently checked from behind, went into the boards, and suffered multiple spinal injuries as a result. 16 year old Jack Jablonski.

Anyway, sparing all the details from the week, last night I went to a game between my girfriends brother's team (St. Louis Park in Minneapolis) and this kids former team (Benilde-St. Margaret). The place was absolutely packed for this HS hockey game. Estimated 4,500 people there. They had Jack's brother drop the ceremonial puck, and he was introduced as an honorary member of the Benilde team. Everyone was cheering, I'd be lying if I said I thought there was a dry eye in the entire place.

The support has been second to none. It was truly remarkable to see exactly how great the hockey community can be.

Anyway, figured I'd share. You can follow his story almost anywhere just by googling his name, but here are a good couple articles on it:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1187684.html

A follow up on him moving his arm with a video that's worth watching including moments from the game I was talking about (go to about 1:20 in the video to watch his brother skate out to the blue line with the starters of last nights game and listen to the roar he gets):

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/n...ms-jan-08-2012

There's a video of my girlfriend's dad interviewing Jack's mom somewhere on that myfoxtwincities website, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, last but not least, here's the website his family set up for him:

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Wow Chris, I read about this a few days ago--amazing how the internet can connect so many people together in an instant. As a fellow hockey fan, I hope Jack gets better soon, God knows he's probably wanting to get a speedy recovery to get back on the ice with his teammates.

lockman21 01-09-2012 12:19 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

That's all he can talk about, I guess. Keeps asking when he can lace up the skates again.

I gave his mom a hug after the game while my girlfriend's mom was talking to her. You could tell that the support was incredibly overwhelming to her. I don't think she knew how to react, whether to cry or smile. She only has done one interview, and it was the one with my girlfriend's dad, which is why I really want to find it. I think she felt comfortable only talking to him, and knew he would ask the right questions the right way. It's the interview the news stations keep using bits and pieces of, but I want to find the whole thing.

My heart goes out to the kid that hit him. God knows what he's going through. I feel so bad for him, too. Jack has said the same thing many times, that his heart goes out to that kid and his family, and he holds nothing against him. It wasn't a malicious hit by any means.

Good news for the Wings next weekend. That guy always burns them. Not saying it's good he's hurt, never want to see anyone get hurt. Well that's not totally true. Claude Lemieux could have broken his leg and I wouldn't have cared. Bad news for the Hawks though. Been struggling and to lose him is a blow.

Was weird to hear the guys on tv last night keep saying the Wings and Hawks were trailing the Blues.
