Re: The NHL Thread
So buying NHL Gamecenter is pointless since the Hawks are nationally broadcast like 100 times this year.

Re: The NHL Thread
I'm glad NBC branches out with their game choices. I know they do it because people won't watch Arizona against...well almost anybody but sucks when you want variety. But it's about the $$$$$$$$. And in all honesty, I don't watch full games during the regular season much outside of the Wings so I might as well just check into the NHL Network instead.

Big ups to this thread today. :hugs
I remember that story, Tim. When you disappeared. I know a few of us were legitimately concerned. Glad life isn't too bad now. :) And since you're always posting that dumb McCarty goal, let me tell you about N2's Say Goodbye I heard a week ago.... #toosoon? I love how everyone universally hates the Flyers. It's so fun. And we're hated cause we were big meanies years ago. Not because we're winners. That's a special kind of hate. |
Re: The NHL Thread
I'll never forget cville with the nhl crew. just wish there were more of us there.

That's absurd. Now I just need to figure out how to actually watch games like a random Tuesday night game against Winnipeg. |

To be clear, I wouldn't want to poke Phil's bare belly. Because, ew. Who knows when the last was that he showered.

Still talking about Kessel, huh. Lol
I think Islanders are on nationally 6 times. We're big time, now. And yes, we are mostly kind in here. Never been this nice to Flyers and Rag$ fans in my life. |

Re: The NHL Thread
Just checked, the Caps play on national TV 14 times this year. That's higher than I think ever before. All 3 Caps/Bruins games are nationally TV'd this year. Weird. I wonder who at NBC Sports thinks the Bruins will be worth watching this year.

Re: The NHL Thread
completely off topic, but I'm watching Dave doing the Bernie rally from June, and I have to say--I think 2018 might be the end for the band. He obviously has the chops to do solo, or at the very worst, Dave and Tim. He entertained the crowd, did his songs, and ad-libbed what the band or Tim would have added musically. Sometimes I think he wants a big production out of every song he produces, but at the very core of each and everyone of his songs, he knows exactly what to play and how to play.

Re: The NHL Thread
I definitely feel the days of a "long" summer tour could be over. Carter will be 60 next year and that is some pace to keep up for months. I don't think a long summer tour will occur in 2018. I could see an abbreviated tour at various popular and key stops and that's it full band. As you said, D&T will be a thing next and in the coming years and I also think Dave solo might work but think there won't be many of those.

Re: The NHL Thread
I would like for the band to stick around long enough for me to take my daughter to at least one show before they hang it up completely. She's about a year and a half now, so MAYBE by summer 2018 she'll be ready to be at the back of the lawn. But maybe not. For any of y'all that follow DMBc still, no I would never take her into a pit.
Beyond that, if I'm being completely honest, I think I'd prefer dave and Tim shows and dave solo shows at this point. The band seems to have hit a bit of a wall, and I've gotten so much from this band over the years, I think I might be close to my fill as well. I would still go at least once or twice if they keep touring, but I guess I wouldn't be completely crushed if they decide they are done. I want to take Riley at least once. That's the big thing. It would be nice if she could be old enough to really remember it, but that's still a few years away. Other than that, bring on the d+t. I'm all for that idea. |
Re: The NHL Thread
I think they have at least 2-5 more years of touring. And mostly because of Carter's age and what he does. But agreed that it shouldn't be at the same full scale that it's been. I mean attendance figures show that anyway. Hit your usual two night stands that draw well. (SPAC, Alpine, West Palm, etc.) Go for one night in other "bigger" cities. (Atlanta, Chicago, Philly, Detroit, some others I'm not thinking of). Scale the tour down to 30-ish shows instead of 50.
Dave can't sit around for too long and I would say has at least 10 more years of doing this kind of stuff. So I think a lot of D&T is likely (for sure next year) and I think hooking up with other musicians for album(s)/tour(s) in 2020-2025 range isn't out of the question. |
Re: The NHL Thread
As long as they keep touring, I will keep going to at least one show a year. I would not mind seeing another Dave & Friends tour though.

Re: The NHL Thread
Also. Happy Brayden Schenn Arbitration Hearing Day!
|
Re: The NHL Thread
I have no idea what they'll do. I know we're not going full out for 15 years or anything but I think a summer tour of around 40ish shows will happen for a few years after 2018. People were jumping to conclusions when they said they'd take 2011 off and we're still here. Whatever happens, happens.

I'm not sure what the future of the Matthews Band is, but they all just seem tired of it. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Coffin seems more interested in his side shows and clinics, Boyd has his Crystal Garden thing, etc. |
