My favorite part of the offseason is knowing that it's July and the only defenseman the Avalanche have added are Fedor Tyutin and Patrick Wiercioch.

Awesome.

Re: The NHL Thread

I'm just glad the Caps didn't panic and do anything stupid. Stay the course. Minor improvements is all that was needed. Plus they got Johannson done. Too bad they couldn't get a deal done with Mike Richards. That's my only disappointment thus far.

Awesome.

Was Wiecioch from Ottawa? If that's the same guy, I like him. Tyutin won't give you anything.

Yeah, him. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw the signing. An astute one by Joe. But alas, he's a bottom pair d-man. He'll play 12 minutes a night. They'll be 12 good minutes probably, but it really doesn't address the big need the Avs have.

Joe is great at making these clever, fill-in-the-gaps signings, but aside from pulling the trigger on the ROR deal last year, seems perhaps overly cautious at making the big move. Maybe just looking for the right deal and his patience will be rewarded?

Little does everyone outside our good thread know that chirping is actually a sign of endearment. You pieces of shit.

:lol Seriously! Bunch of wankers, the lot of you! :lol

Here's Phil Kessel's grandma chugging champagne out of the Cup. Enjoy. (The offseason is that much better when the team you follow wins it all, as our Chicago and Kings fans are well aware of.)

That's why I laugh at when players bitch now. Not that they might not have an argument that it was a penalty but they are nothing compared to what guys dealt with from about 94-2004. Imagine what guys like Forsberg, Fedorov, Kariya etc could do today.

Absolutely nothing to do with anyone in here, they only reason this particular thread even came up is because someone asked. Both Sarah and I are in here often enough to know there is no real malice in 99% of the posts, just good natured rivalry and ribbing and a bunch of mutual respect. That thread I made was in response to all the political and PC shit clouding nDMB where people are just flat out TRYING to get into arguments, they are not debating - they have already picked a side and anyone who does not agree with them gets attacked by a few users.

Re: The NHL Thread

We have a smaller group of people than most of the other commonly used sports threads, almost all of whom are knowledgeable of hockey and respectful. Yeah, we all cheer for our teams and occasionally blow off some steam (or debate the value of players - ie Kane vs Crosby for Hart) with a rant but for the most part any real malice is almost non-existent. I mean, how many other sports threads here have common congratulations posts when some team knocks out the team you cheer for and you congratulate them for a great series.

We would probably be even more civilized if Jamie Benn was actually a friggin center idiots! :lol

Re: The NHL Thread

The fact that we are a small group is why this is good. I go into the other threads sometimes and see people posting regulary about a sport who clearly don't have a fraction of the knowledge about that sport that everyone in here has about hockey. We all know each other and know how we act and when to give each other shit. But we'll all look out for each other too. I was in a dark place almost 2 years ago and disappeared and people in here were worried about me and checked up on me. I'll never forget that.

Regardless of how much some of us hate Pittsburgh the Penguins earned that cup. Yeah, they blew out the Rangers but then they stayed solid and beat a damn good Caps team, stormed back to win the series against TB and then did an amazing job of shutting down a damn good Sharks team in 6 games. I cannot stand the Penguins but they sure as hell earned that cup!
