Awful. He was just starting to get rolling too...

Those Philly WC jerseys look awesome.

Glad to have Crosby back. He brings so much to the NHL.

I am incredibly happy for Crosby (until he scores two in his first game against Philadelphia :lol )

Also, the Flyers defense looks really terrible tonight without Pronger and Coburn.

Also, Matt Read has a goal in his last five games (6 total). He's a fucking stud.

I liked it better when Crosby wasn't scoring at a ridiculous rate.

Crosby has the best back hand since Ike Turner...

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Root sports, the local Pittsburgh television outlet, completely shit the bed with the coverage of Crosby's return last night. During the pre-game PA announcement, when the players were taking the ice, instead of just shutting the fuck up and letting the home audience hear the crowd roar, they just talked over the entire thing: "yes, that's Crosby taking the ice [thanks, asshole-didn't realize this was the broadcast for blind people]. He has to feel good about this. Penguins fans are really letting him hear it[oh, it's also the broadcast for deaf people, great]."

Then, they cut to "a special treat for the fans," which was Bylsma's pre-game speech. I'm all for hearing the "inside" parts of the game, but they stayed on Bylsma for 5 solid minutes, during which he said literally not one thing that someone who doesn't play for the Penguins would understand. The best part was when they stayed on this pre-game speech so long that they missed the drop of the puck, and every bit of the fans' screaming during the lead-up to the opening faceoff. Just a cold cut to the game 5 seconds in.

Root had an opportunity to really hit a home run with their local coverage, but my God they absolutely butchered it.

First think I thought of was that Big Gay Al South Park episode with the football game. " I've haven't seen an Englishman take a blow like that since Hugh Grant."

edit: ps the Isles really suck.

Isles are terrible. Pens looked unstoppable against a bad team. No surprise there. Crosby is ridiculous. Hate him.... (jealousC)

Flyers looked really bad on defense w/o their top 2 (or 1 and 3). It happens. Not worried.

My wife cracked up laughing at me when she saw how excited I got after he scored that goal. First off, scoring on a backhand from any distance greater than a meter is itself quite a feat... to do it from the far right boards from that angle?! Unbelievable the skill he has.

Pens may have Crosby. But Caps have the rally balloon.

Dreger's reporting a 2-year deal for Turris has been reached, ending the biggest joke of a holdout I've ever seen.

A few people suggesting he'll end up getting traded before the seasons done. Makes sense cause if he didn't sign by what Dec. 2nd he couldn't play this year?

I bet at this point the Coyotes would love nothing more than to sign and trade.

EDIT: and those contract numbers, factored in with his age, make him very tradeable to a struggling team who would still like to take a chance on him.

Just catching up on some Bucci and read this little gem on Crosby (this article was posted Nov. 3):

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/71...le-hockey-talk

Quote:

November is here and still no Sidney Crosby. It's now been 10 months since Crosby last played. There is no rush to bring him back since the Penguins -- and the Steelers -- are in first place, and there seems to be little outcry from Penguins season-ticket holders, suite owners and sponsors and the revenue generators to ask for more transparency. Why isn't he playing? Is the team being ultra-extra cautious? Does he still have an injury? Is the plan to give him one full month of training camp-like work after he is cleared to play?
The game needs him, not only for his brilliant artistry, but also because he is one of the more hated players in certain rinks. Every theatrical performance needs a villain. Jonathan Toews will never be hated unless he starts slew-footing schoolchildren at Greater Detroit bus stops. Crosby is the whole entertainment package. With football season in full swing and the Penguins' season off to a good start, Crosby's return can wait.
The bolded made me crack up. Just imagining it.
