Anyway, my point being, the Ducks are a fucking good team. Do I think Chicago should be favored? Absolutely, any team that rolls a third line of Sharp - Vermette - Teravainen should be favored to win just about any 7 game series in today's NHL...but Anaheim can certainly skate with the best of them.

I thought Chicago was the better team last year in the Hawks/Kings series, and we all know how that worked out.

Best part is that the writer looks like he is a senior in high school. Some of the dumbest hockey related reading I have done this past week and that's including Space Raven making his introduction to this thread.

Totally :thumbsup. After the Ducks beat Calgary, I think I mentioned in here how good a series it's going to be. The matchup I'm most interested in seeing is Chicago's defense against Anaheim's big forwards. Depth is going to play a huge role here, as both teams can roll multiple scoring lines as well as defensive pairs to match them. Anaheim's second line is underrated but scary this year.

Like I said before, I'm giving the nod to Chicago as well. But it will be a damn fine series to watch.

The scary thing, for me as a Chicago fan, is that we skate basically 4 defensemen (30 mins for Keith, 22-25 each for Seabs/Oduya/Hammer) and then just plug and play the bottom pairing 8-10 minutes each.

While on the flip side, Anaheim basically evenly rotates those 6 defensemen. Their minutes are basically even across the board. That could wear on the Hawks blue line in a 7 game series this late in the playoffs.

Although, with this much time off, I'm sure the machine that is Duncan Keith could probably skate 60 minutes every game and be just as ridiculous.

The Flyers have given up on Couturier. Sutter sucks. Trade Sutter to the Flyers.

works 60 percent of the time, all the time.

At this point if I had to guess I would say Hawks & Lightning make it through.

For no particular reason that I can think of, I really hope the Ducks destroy the hawks. They almost certainly won't, but I'd like to see it happen. And of course my real hope is for a series of great hockey since I have no investment in either team.

Agree with all this. The physical nature of the Ducks forwards could also take a toll.

On the other hand, I know of no Ducks defenseman that I think has the consistent ability to contain Patrick Kane shift in and shift out. That will be big.

I don't think there is a defenseman on this planet that can contain Kane. He's the #1 skill player in the world, hands down.

That's what separates the Hawks. If you want to throw your top defensemen and shut down line up against the Kane line, you're left needing to figure out how to stop a line of Saad - Toews - Hossa. They'll just dominate the puck with power and skill every shift until your defensemen can't stand. The opposite is true as well...wanna matchup against Toews and Hossa? Kane is left to dance around your 2nd best checking line, which, we've all seen what he can do to that. You saw it falter while 88 was hurt, he's just so vitile in the game plan. He opens up so much, both for his line and other lines.

He's so good at finding open space and creating in that space that he opens up things to other lines. Teams are so worried about 88 that you end up with lines as hilariously scary as Saad - Toews - Hossa and Sharp - Vermette - Taco going against 3rd lines and 3rd pairing defensemen.

Add in that you have (in my opinion) the best defenseman in the world on the ice half the game, and it's just impossible to game plan against...especially in a 7 game series. Duncan Keith's ability to transition the puck from one end of the ice to the other with those insane 100 ft. tape to tape stretch passes he makes are impossible to defend, especially when they are going to players as skilled as 88 and 19.

This team as literally built itself into the best franchise in sports on the backbone of 19/88/2.

As of now according to McKenzie, Flyers haven't talked to him and Oilers haven't requested permission.

I really can't gauge anything off that cause Babs holds things close but I still think he's gone. Although, with Pitt not in on it, Flyers haven't talked yet and doesn't look like Oilers will, Wings chances have improved. If he leaves, I thinks it's Buffalo.
