Works for me.

Re: The NHL Thread

I'm actually good for that time....if I remember. Usually getting home just before 6 but I'm off tomorrow so yay me. So Ryan Johansen as my first pick?

Also saw Jordan Staal out with a broken leg. Tough break (no pun) for the Canes. They were in tough to make the playoffs to begin with.

Re: The NHL Thread

So read a post form Lebrun about Johansen's latest offer. Apparently the Jackets biggest problem with it, is that in the 2nd year of the deal, he'd get paid $6mil, which he is then eligible for salary arbitration, and they'd have to offer him that $6mil....

Re: The NHL Thread

it's kind of sad that Jordan Staal hasn't taken off they way a lot of people thought he would, love the guy

bad luck for him...

6 pm works better for me than 8 pm :thumbsup

Re: The NHL Thread

6pm is bad for me but I'll just let it auto draft. I kept two good goalies so I'm sure it'll pick good forwards and D for me

Re: The NHL Thread

So if everyone that played last year gets to keep 3 players does that mean there will be zero elite players available for those of us that didn't play last year?

Pretty sure it was decided to not do a keeper league this year.

We did it just for you because you're a Caps fan, and are in cahoots with Brohan.

I'm good with that. I'll be at work still. Would much rather do it while I'm at work than at home with the fam. :D

I am in class til 6:30 so I would be forced to auto draft.

waterboy100 09-24-2014 08:16 AM

We are starting the league fresh this year. There will be no keepers this season.

Next season you will be able to keep 4 players from this season.

I hope everyone can make the draft, The alternative is to do it on the weekend.

Who can do it on the weekend?

I'm forced to auto-draft as well.

Roose13 09-24-2014 08:41 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

I didn't know that. That's bull shit. Can we move the draft to the weekend then?

Re: The NHL Thread

I might be able to do it this weekend, depends on time and stuff of course.

I'm available all of Friday, not available Saturday and unsure of Sunday (get my work schedule today).

That said, finding a time to work for everyone may be difficult.

They would have to qualify him at $6mil or let him walk after 15-16. If they qualify him, his salary for 16-17 would have to be $6mil minimum, even if he stunk it up in year two of that deal. So if he scored 15 goals and 40 points in 15-16 and the Jackets still wanted to keep him, feeling he could rebound, they'd have to pay him $6mil. Jackets want to protect themselves. Obviously, if he had a great two years, the point is moot but Jackets watching out for their best interests.

makes sense, thanks.

yeah if he has a 40 point season in 15-16 i can't imagine they'd want to keep him around. i guess they're worried about an injury shortened season.

waterboy100 09-24-2014 09:29 AM

One sec guys. I will have a solution to everyone's problem in 2 minutes,

They might want to keep him, thinking he might rebound, but not at $6mil. Now, at the $3mil per season they want to sign him for? Easier to stomach that qualifying offer on hope he'd rebound from a bad season.

please go here and select when you are available to draft:

For the "your name" field please enter your ants name, not your team name, that way i can pm you if needed.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TIMES ARE PACIFIC TIME. YOU MAY NEED TO DO SOME MATH. NO BITCHING THAT YOU THOUGHT IT WAS EASTERN TIME (My subtle way of fighting that east coast bias).

that's true.
im 99% sure this deal gets done and he is in the lineup opening night.
my biggest concern at this point is how little he seems to believe in his ability to continue at last year's pace.
