I'll be around for the start of the draft but work is at 2 for me, I can possibly cash in a favor and go in late but I may have to switch to auto before we're done. Will likely be around for at least half of it

Don't you have one on the way, Barbs? Or wait... maybe you're just getting married... I know it's something big like that! :o

Nice. Congrats man!

Having a new baby is actually very conducive to watching hockey. They don't do much at the newborn stage, and you and your lady probably won't feel like doing much either, so it's perfect for just sitting around, holding the wee one, and watching hockey.

It's once they hit toddler stage that it gets difficult. You end up just playing with them and kind of having it on in the background. Not necessarily a bad thing.

In that case, I would be open to the option of co-parenting with you.

It freaks me out a little bit to think that before the season ends I'll be watching games with my child. I've been through a lot of hockey seasons, they never seem to take all that long

It's a multi-quote kind of day! You should actually be starting to experience this now. If not, within the next month or two... Factz!

All of this. Naturally. I spent many an evening when the lil guy first came around staying up til the 1-2 am feeding time watching west coast playoff games. It was actually clutch. If you had to be awakr, at least something good was on.

And yes - Once they become little people (#notsize-istC), then the focus is hanging out with them, with the game on in the background.

Yeah toddler stage is tough but newborn/infant was great. Watched lots the 2011 playoffs with him. I still remember Griffin waking up for a like midnight-ish feeding and I put him back to sleep and because of that was able to go downstairs and watch the end of game 4 against the Yotes. Thanks kid!

You're about where I was 4 years ago. I remember thinking the same thing, since my boy was due April 1st.

And what's great is they'll naturally just start to love the game after a while, pick favorite players, recognize teams other than yours, etc. My daughter literally cried when I broke the news to her that Paul Stastny (her favorite player) signed with another team. Actual tears falling from her face.

I hope I can get the boy to that stage. Right now he just sort of points at the TV and says Flyers and then goes about whatever else he's doing. No interest yet in actually watching the game. But he's also not even 2 1/2 yet......

This last season is when it really hit for the twins. They were 4.

I cannot wait for this and to be asked to play Dave Matthews in the car. When my kid is amped to listen to UTTAD in the car while they're on their way to their first Caps game, my life will be complete

During the playoffs in 2013, Griffin was two, he'd come into the bedroom at his bedtime and say "I wanna watch hockey" to get out of going to bed. He does love his Red Wings shirt. I hope I can get him to like it, but even I didn't like sports till I was older. As long as he doesn't like the crap my wife watches I'll be ok. Staring at a blank wall would be better.

The Ants Marching from LT 20 used to work to calm my son. It was weird but it almost always worked.

I don't blame him with a Flyers game on.

Oh. You so funny. You so very very funny. Half your team is comprised of former Flyers or guys a former Flyer (Hextall) picked for you. So you just take your joke and you go sit in the corner for a little bit.

rickyh24 09-26-2014 12:37 PM

Which one of Sarah's teams are you talking about?

And we know how to use those guys to win multiple championships! Thanks!

That's what I was wondering considering when my Isles squeeze in, some teams are going to be on the outside looking in.

Congrats on the new addition Barbogast. Most of the time , kids are great. My 2 knuckleheads drive me crazy but I love them to pieces. Sadly, they are not huge sports fans yet except for the case of football as my 9 year old is big into it. They are allowed to have favorites teams outside of mine except in hockey and baseball and I told them they can't live here any more if they decide to like a team other than the Islanders and Yankees.

As for the sex, let's just say I'm happy I'll won't have to live through those lean infant /toddler years again. I am glad those days are way back in the rear view
mirror.

It's probably not a whole lot different than the amount of sex you're getting right now, Flyers fan.
