What time does the draft start?

Re: The NHL Thread

That would be huge for the Preds.

Also on Wings defensive front, ready to give Niskanen 7 years but worried in the money.

Noise coming out Wings have strong interest in Tyler Myers.

Murray said this morning he's had calls about players and is listening, not outright shopping guys. Sabres are about to have a log jam at the blue line and Ehrhoff's contract makes him tough to move. If someone goes I think it'll be Myers.

Lebrun saying Kesler deal to ANA is about done. For Bonino, Sbisa, and a first

Also to the draft thing, next year with this same record, Sabres would still be top 2.

bonzo48280 06-27-2014 11:26 AM

Vancouver just got destroyed on that. Saad or Teuvo were being asked for from the Hawks, Vancouver got nothing close to that.

Re: The NHL Thread

And Dreger also saying Wings of course in on Yandle. Mentioned them first and only twice on TSN. So while that doesn't mean anything, it sure sounds like they are in on him big time.

Asking and what you'll actually get are two different things, especially in a limited market like this.

Re: The NHL Thread

It wasn't a terrible trade. I think Vancouver was being cautious about asking too much after the Luongo debacle.

I think they got some decent pieces. Sbisa is young and should have better years ahead of him. He's got some maturing to do, especially physically. As he grows into his frame a bit more, I think we'll see better things from him. I've watched him a bit and have been impressed at the potential.

Bonino is a good glue guy. May not provide a TON of offsense (although the ability is there - 20 goals last year), but he's the type who you love to have on your 3rd line. He plays reasonably well in the pressure situations he's been in and seems to be a leader in waiting. One of those all-around guys you love to have on your roster. Max Talbot type, but a better skater.

Who knows about the 1st. Guys make a big deal about 1st rounders, but when they're that low it's really a crap shoot as to whether they will actually work out or not.

So you've got a 3rd liner and #3-4 defenseman who both have upside and loads of potential for a 2nd line center who's closer to 30 than 20 and who wanted out anyways. Not to mention the 1st rounder, which may or may not work out.

Not the best trade I've ever seen, but certainly not the worst. Immediate winners of the deal are certainly the Ducks, who get that 2nd line presence they really needed. Him and Getzlaf as a 1-2 center punch has to immediately be one of the best in the league.

Agree. and hey maybe they can get to round 3 now... ;)

Also if Wings land Yandle somehow, I'm posting every article I find, on your facebook page.

If you're comfortable making a grown man cry, go for it pal.

I make a 3 year old cry almost daily. Granted that's usually for things like no candy for breakfast or no cereal for dinner but it doesn't phase me anymore.

:lol You're a monster. Oh man, cereal is my go-to dinner idea when I'm alone with the kids for the evening. That or pizza. Sometimes both.

Mine is mac n cheese. Sadly it does take some time to actually make so that can be troublesome. My favorite pizza place closed like 6 months ago and hasn't re-opened yet so pizza hasn't been the same around here..

I wonder if they will pursue a goalie, a la Miller.

Other tid-bits

Vancouver flips the 3rd they got in the ANA deal to NYR for Dorsett, essentially adding him to the return they got for Kesler.

Ribeiro gets bought out in PHX. This surprised me.

Dreger and others saying they may not be done... in hunt to acquire 1st overall. To do so, who would they have to give up? Not a lot of big names left on their roster outside of the twins...

Turns out the Ribeiro buyout was for behavioral issues. Hope he can get himself figured out, whatever it is.

I am with Matty. This is probably a good trade for both teams.

Ryan Kesler....guy is not getting any younger. Yes he is still a very good player on a good contract for the next 2 years, but he is on the downside of his prime and you are not going to get a huge haul for a 2C approaching 30 yrs old. Anaheim realizes this is their window and they are going for it. And it doesn't cripple them long-term.

That's not bad at all. Former 1st-rd defenseman who potentially has room for development, a solid forward on a cheap deal for 3 more years, and a mid-late 1st round pick. They just turned 1 aging guy on a mediocre hockey team into 3 interesting assets.
