But.....Q has won two cups, he is infallible.

bonzo48280 05-24-2014 07:28 PM

Bollig has 5 minutes of ice time right now...but how dare I say Q is wrong for playing him when the dude never plays when the score doesn't favor the hawks.

Re: The NHL Thread

Larry Brooks of the NY Post had this interesting thought in his recent column. Not sure what I think about it. Letang, while a great player, is seemingly always injured and not sure what the whole stroke thing will affect him long term. Islanders desperately need a #1 dman and PP QB to go with, hopefully, a healthy Visnovsky, so the talent we do have could move down a peg and be a deeper backline.

This is from the article.

So the Penguins are seeking an infusion of young talent. And Snow has made it known that the Islanders are willing to deal the fifth-overall pick in next month’s draft.
And Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang’s no-move/no-trade clauses do not kick in until July 1 on a contract that runs through 2021-22 at a cap hit of $7.2 Million per.
Perhaps a place to start for both franchises.

Huge game tonight!!!

Feel like New York needs this one badly. I hope the third and fourth lines are still rolling with all the missing players now. Can't wat to watch!

Eh, not really. Hawks have been down before. I'm not freaking out yet. 88 and 10 both need to get going. Toews can't win this series all on his own, although he is trying.

With the talent and leadership on this team I would never count them out of any situation.

It would be a lot easier to get going if they didn't have a gaping black hole between them...

Is Handzus the ideal fit at 2C? FAR from it. But 10 and 88 should be able to produce with me centering them, let alone an Olympic center. It's not that they're just being held off the score sheet, but they are consistently getting beat...and badly. I love Patrick Sharp as much as anyone, but he has been possibly the worst Blackhawk on the ice. He needs to be better.

Oduya has been awful too. Leddy has been far from great too.

This can't all be placed on Zus. To win a Cup, first and foremost, your stars have to be stars. If we want to dish out blame, it starts with 10.

Hawks fans! I will be in Chicago for game 5. Any advice on where to watch the game? Also, where is the best place to try deep dish?

Watch the game at Jimmy Greens, pizza should probably be Malnati's if you are only going to try one.

I concur that Giordano's is the best by far.

Wait wut? Which did you mean?

For the record I think Malnati's wins by a good margin.

There are a lot of great bars, it really depends on where your hotel is. I live in the Loop, so I like to watch on Madison if I'm going out for the game. Beer Biestro, Crossroads, Old 5th, Third Rail Tavern and probably the best option West End are all within walking distance of each other. Johnny's Icehouse East is right there too, so if you want to watch some sloppy Men's league hockey, I have a game late Tuesday night (although it might be at Johnny's West now that I think about it).

Get some food in Greek Town, probably Pegasus. Giordanos is the best deep dish option.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Oh, there's also Scout in the South Loop if you're in that area. Hawks took the Cup there after arriving in the city from Boston in 2013. Some BEAUTIFUL bartenders there too, which is my favorite part.
