I'm watching it now. They sound fantastic. It's honestly depressing considering the way they sound now.

Would be funny, but they're all in different clothes except for Dave

Wow, Farm Aid 99 is the first bootleg I ever bought. For something like $40. I’ve never seen video of it. Very cool. Thanks for sharing that.

Best solo performance of The Stone on Charlie Rose, then Listener Supported the following day, then this Farm Aid ... not a bad 72 hours

I find it interesting that anyone thinks today's version of DMB sounds anywhere to close as good as they did then.

I haven't really seen anyone making that argument. I've seen lots of people say they like how they sound now, they usually compare to 2010-2016. Not 1999.

Yes, me too

IMO the bands sound died when they left LW and released ED.
Sure there are moments but the more pop sound and shorter pop style songs from Ballard on killed DMB.
It's also when they started to rely on "guests" more. I.e. The ladies, keyboards, and trumpet.
When they were five guys kicking ass (add Tim here and there) they had a fresh and unique sound

His guitar solo is terrible. Sounds like a guy that’s just learning how to play guitar. Never been able to get into him.

Me neither, always considered him to be awful.

My first 2 shows were 6-19 and 6-20 2000. Just the 5 of them. Without a doubt the best shows of my 60ish

To this day I’m so mad I missed those shows. Family vacation to NC that week. I did more than make up for it by attending 9/18/00 later that summer. Still waiting for that one to get a release.
