Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

I can always go back to it. I wanted a bit more of a sure thing as far as a return goes. Sbsia, Nino and Subban is a good return I suppose.

I've only made 3 moves. I moved Hags and a pick for Dustin Brown. I moved A 1st and a 3rd for Eriksson, and I moved Marc Staal for Kadri and Morgan Rielly.

My team is rubbish. They are a game under .500. Hank can't make a save and my team can't score.

I have been missing Eriksson for 20 games, Brown for 35 games and Callahan was out for 10 games earlier.

My roster looks like (when healthy)

Nash(87)-Richards(87)-Callahan(84)
Eriksson(85)-Stepan(84)-Brown(84)
Zucarello(79)-Brassard(81)-Kadri(83)
Palmieri(75)-Boyle(78)-Fierreo(74)

McDonagh(86) - Girardi(85)
Del Zotto(83) - Hamirlik (82)
Gilroy (76) - Eminger (77)

Hank (91)
Biron (77)

I need a better #4 D-man. but I'm trying to get by without one. I'm having a bit of a tough time with it though. I have some quality prospects who will provide some much needed support in a few years

Rielly (4.5 Star)
Kreider (4.5 star)
Moore (4.0 star)
and another guy who I can't remember.

I'm kind of stuck here as to how to improve. I also still have my first this year, which I'm hesitant to give up, given that I am on the bottom 10 right now.

Lidstrom's jersey retirement will be March 6th against the Avs. A ticket that no one in Detroit cares about anymore just became popular...for one game anyways. I know I'll try to go.

Roy is going to rush the ice and tackle Nick during the ceremony, and the rivalry will begin anew, ushering in a brand new era of hate. I can see Abdelkader and McLeod being at the center of it all.

For the two times a year they play each other and the 1 in a million chance they meet in the playoffs...meaning finals. Can't wait to see Seth Jones in an Avs jersey....

Blackhawks PR guy: "Patrick, we want to help clean up your image, and nothing does that better than a few tears. You don't even have to really cry. Just, as you're talking, pinch your inner thigh really hard until your eyes get watery, then sniff a few times, maybe pause for a second like you're trying to compose yourself, then rub your eyes a few times. Maybe give an embarrassed smile, and all will be good."

Patrick: "Then can I go screw bitches?"

Blackhawks: "Yes, then you can go screw bitches."

Patrick: "Ok cool lez do this."

Maybe 1 in 2 million chance. And hey, two times a year is ok, they just need to make the most of the games when they happen. One thing I do know, they'll need to play Jiggy during those games... I think Varlamov would get creamed in a brawl.

And you had to bring up the Seth Jones thing again, you just had to... classic Wings bull crap.

I had them in the finals last year before the season. Great offensive depth, solid backline, and a top 10 goaltender.

Yep, and with the Blackhawks bound to have a Cup hangover, they should take the #1 seed in the West.

I wonder if they'll keep the tandem of Elliot/Halak or try to move one of them for more offensive firepower.

Ugh, the East is going to be impossible with the inclusion of the Red Wings. I keep forgetting they switched conferences.

Not just that, but the extra 2 teams. When I did my predictions for the season, I realized how difficult it would be for teams in the East to make the playoffs vs. the West. There are a lot of major market teams in the East, plus 2 extra teams, makes it really competitive for those wild card spots.

Don't worry I'd do it to anyone else in here too. It's just too easy. lol

Yea the NHL needs to even the conferences out the next time realignment happens, which will hopefully be soon.

Expansion is coming in a couple years. They should have waited to realign until they expanded.

if anything they need to go through a contraction

Players union will never allow that unfortunately.

clearly

not like the owners would necessarily want it anyway, but it would make for a better game all-around

I wonder if a contraction will be possible if the KHL starts stealing players

that won't happen on a large scale, guys still want to play for the cup and they know they get more media attention in the US/Canada

If it was that simple they would have. Jets needed to move west and they wanted to help out both the Jackets and Wings. It'll be interesting to see how they work it out assuming Seattle or Portland will get a team and Quebec the other.

I agree it won't happen much. I mean Ovie and Malkin stayed and they are two of the largest Russian stars. I think most guys who would leave are the mid-level guys from Europe. Guys who'd get 3-4mil in the NHL could get closer to 8mil there. Hudler did it a few years ago. But even he came back.

I think teams will move before they are contracted. Phoenix to Seattle and Florida to Quebec
