I think it's kind of a toss up for the few teams looking for a goalie... Brodeur, Halak, and Bryz (and Maybe Luongo) will be heading to any combination of Minny, Montreal (rental only), and Washington.

God I hope it stays that way. I want him less than I wanted Miller

Wild's official Twitter feed just announced Bryz acquisition for 4th rounder. Went with the cheap option, I guess.

EDIT: From Proteau :lol
Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype 55s Wild goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. Now that's a perfect sentence.

Penner to the Caps?

Bryz was just an experiment that didn't work out. Bye-bye.

Easy to say now, but our goaltending should be much improved next year.

Should have stayed in Phoenix and dealt with the fact they could have moved to Winnipeg.

Do wonder where Halak goes now though.

Penner trader for a 4th rounder too. And on Pancake Tuesday of all days.

I would imagine Washington wants to make a run at him. Like we've said before, a MTL trade is a possibility if Price is out for an extended period.

The last thing the Caps need is a goalie

Do wonder where Halak goes now though.

Depending on his contract status/signability, I would take him on LI. Need an upgrade for next year and going forward.

I'm just checking to the tracker hourly for news on vanek and amac. Anything less than 2 good assets for vanek would be a failure.

I forgot about NYI. Definitely put them on the "need goalie" list. :thumbsup

Has Dustin Penner played for every team in the league yet?

Just saw the Flyers reportedly trying to land Kesler, don't know how I have missed that. Think it may be a bit costly to get him

Penner should occupy a spot on the left on one of the top 2 lines....Erat is gone then???

how are the flyers not in major cap trouble?
how could they even think about adding a guy like Kesler?
what am I missing?

Not crazy about the idea, considering Philly needs more defensive help. But hey, it's Ryan Kesler.

Erat requested a trade earlier and the Caps certainly want to be rid of him. But his play + salary might render him untradeable.

That Erat/Forsberg trade, in hindsight, has to be one of the worst of last season's deadline (for the Caps).

They could take on about $3mil. So someone would have to be going back. Philly seems to have very little patience with things.

Every time a big name guy hits the trading block or free agency I feel like the Flyers are talked about as a suitor.

Yeah. Sometimes it's just best to wait and let the guys you have mature. But again, I'm a Wings fan who has seen 4 Cups in the last 16 years or whatever. Maybe the Wings don't feel the pressure Philly does. But even looking back at 1996 when they still hadn't won, they were making moves to better themselves, not just trying to get some big name.

Oh I'm not pleased by the prospect. I like the young talent we have. Agree with the defense. Need some big help there

Kesler is a smoke screen. They want to drive up the price of Kesler so the Penguins make the biggest deal possible.

Edler might be a possibility but apparently Vancouver isn't willing to give him up unless it's for an arm and a leg.

Probably the worst trade of McPhee's career in Washington. Although I am of the very strong opinion that Martin Erat has been substantially better for the Caps than people give him credit for. He's been very much misused by Adam Oates and was constantly getting scratched in favor of shit players like Laich and Brouwer. I would want out too.

The whole Erat situation is a huge mess and I don't really blame him for any of it

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Also, Kuznetsov's KHL team missed the playoffs, so if he can work out a deal with his club to skip the loser playoffs (which it sounds like he wants to do), we may see him in a Caps sweater very soon
