Sucks so bad. Maybe I'm just super nostalgic, but I loved calling it "The Joe".

Yeah, no team is going to leave big naming-rights money on the table, even when it leads to unwieldy names like "Consol Energy Center." Blech. "The Joe," like The Igloo, will be missed.

Agreed, if they can beat the Penguins I honestly think the only team that stands a decent chance to beat them is St. Louis.

Regardless of who wins there is going to be a lot of shake up's after the season while teams try and stay under that damn salary cap. No idea why the PA agreed to that, if anything they should have structured it like MLB where you CAN go over the cap but be 'punished' for doing so.

The Lions isn't so bad cause at least it's sorta named after the owners but...yeah.

Not a sports arena, but there was the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater in Tampa, right? :lol

Some of them aren't that bad. The United Center doesn't sound as corporate as it is, the Carrier Dome, Great American Ball Park, etc.

But yeah, I miss names like The Igloo.

I miss the old places. DTE Energy Music Theater is still Pine Knob to me here and it's still Deer Creek in Indy and still Star Lake.

Yeah, it is bad. Truthfully the only arena I can think of off the top of my head that is not bought and paid for by a big name corporation is MSG.

lol yes. It's now MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre which isn't much better. It's better...but barely.

Jobing.com Arena was fucking awful, too.

There are a few exceptions to the rule, and most seem to be in baseball. Yankee Stadium. Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Nationals Park (although the Nats have announced they'll sell the naming rights soon). Fenway Park. And I don't believe the Wrigley corporation pays for Wrigley field. Lambeau Field. The Metrodome (RIP). Madison Square Garden. Nassau Coliseum (RIP). Angel Stadium. Kauffman Stadium. Dodger Stadium.

Fair point. I guess it's the overall principle.

There are still a few. The Palace of Auburn Hills, Arrowhead Stadium, Lambeau Field, Soldier Field...

That's all I can think of. Hell, even the Superdome is the Mercedes-Benz Superdome now.

Verizon's naming rights in DC expire soon and they've said they won't renew. So we'll have a new name here in a few years. I wonder what it will be. I'm hoping Under Armour ponys up the dough, I wouldn't mind the Under Armour Center, and it's a (fairly) local company.

Life was so dope when they played at USAir Arena. What a great corporate name that was. Maybe just because it brings the nostalgia.

I liked it before that when it was the Capital Centre.

I did I forget Fenway and Wrigley? Yeesh.

Wrigley is close, it was actually named after William Wrigley Jr., who owned the Cubs...but he was also the CEO of the Wrigley Company. They don't pay anything for the name, it was owned by the Tribune Company for years, and now Tom Ricketts.

Was that a corporate name? I genuinely don't know why it was called that. Confused me when I was really young because it housed both the Caps and Bullets

Who else does? Marriott? Fannie Mae?

U.S. Government Arena.

I don't understand the business side of it at all. I was wondering that. Ford Field is the same way. I mean the Fords own the damn team..

Looks like that's what they did. I'm going to call it the Hot N Ready. :lol

My question is: will it have live boards?
