I am happy for Thursday. Wings need the rest.

Babcock says he has made the decision in the starter already and will announce Monday. I really have no idea. Mrazek was good yesterday but has had a few issues recently as well. With his comments about Jimmy's performance against the Habs I'd think Mrazek starts but it could be mind games and it'll be Howard.

Re: The NHL Thread

So I haven't watched the games yet but heard we won Friday but lost yesterday so we open on the road. Also heard Benn had a kajillion points yesterday late to win the Art Ross, which is disappointing.

I see most, if not all, of you guys are picking the Caps and assume most media will, too. I am not surprised. We are the underdog, clearly.

We will need Halak to return to pre-ASG form, stay out of the box and our top guys will need to be show up. It also help if Martin is back and the 4th can do what they do best.

Of course I work til 9 Wednesday and Friday so that blows.

Should be a fun ride, regardless.

I'm not worried. I trust the doctors. If he's medically cleared, then he's cleared.

Re: The NHL Thread

How awful is that Seguin trade in hindsight for the Bruins?

I mean, we all questioned it when it happened, but even more so now...wow. "He doesn't fit in here" is such bullshit. He's one of the top scorers in the league, if "he didn't fit in there", then maybe...MAYBE...you're doing something wrong and should adjust to him.

Nashville's hardcore focus on being so anti-Blackhawk is so pathetic.

Re: The NHL Thread

Just spitballing, but the Hawks could look like this game 1:

Saad - Toews - Hossa
Sharp - Richards - Kane
Versteeg - Vermette - Shaw
Bickell - Kruger - Teravainen

Keith - Seabrook
Oduya - Hjalmarsson
Timonen - Rozsival

That's really, really, really, really good.

Rangers in 4
Islanders in 7

Back then, I was a huge believer in it being a good trade for Boston (while not diminishing Seguin's importance in Dallas. I think I even got excited about the prospect of him playing with Benn. Ding!). And I think I was right in thinking that back then. Eriksson, in Dallas, was a dynamic, multi-zone player with tons of vision and great hands. There was no reason to think at the time that he wouldn't be an awesome part of Boston's roster. He was the type of guy that you built a team around. Whatever it is in Boston - style, injury trouble, etc. - it just didn't work out.

I believe, at the time, I called this a great hockey trade with both teams getting fairly equal value in terms of the type of player they were attempting to get. Now, it's obvious that Dallas ran away with this one. And good for them.

Oh I trust the doctors, but would be worried about somehow re-injuring himself. I look at Erik Cole here. 9 years ago broke his neck and I'm sure that had something to do with this one.

I don't remember what I thought at that time but you had a 70 point scorer in Louis and then Smith was a serviceable player and the way he's going now, if Louis was scoring 70 points it would be an ok deal.

As for Sequin not fitting in, it was they felt he wasn't committing the way some guys were. I still believe that's on the staff to get that done.

Re: The NHL Thread

So fantasy league, 2nd during the regular season and finish 4th. Every year my team blows the last few weeks and I end up in the consolation bracket.

So, I Wings goalie nod coming today. Thinking it's Howie because of experience. I wonder if Babcock used his comments about him on Friday and starting Mrazek to say "I have someone else who can take your spot. Time to get back to where you can." I remember Howard's first playoff and he struggled. Won a series, but had some growing pains.
