We should give out playoff beard awards. There would of course be the Sidney Crosby award for worst playoff beard. I think I am a clear favorite in that one. What would we name the best playoff beard?

The Weber or the Niedermayer

Does the scheduling seem weird this year to anyone else? Why would the Bruins and Caps play back-to-back and then wait until Wednesday if there would be a game 7? I understand TV but its not like there are other games on, just seems silly.

Because of TV is the only answer

You don't have to throw a bone. Philly is horrible.

Because the Pens have Fleury who's actually pretty good, he just had a couple bad games.

We have Crawdick, who just sucks ball sack.

Just think how different this series could be if those 2 soft ass goals dont go in. Maybe the Hawks still lose both in OT, but it kills me to wonder what would have happened if he didnt "suck ball sack"

Problem with that train of thought is...he does suck.

But yeah, it would be nice if he didn't let up back to back softies in OT in the fucking playoffs. Would be nice.

God I hate his stupid face.

25 games for Raffi Torres. :thumbsup

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Well I have to give credit to the Nashville Predators for winning that series. They play a tough defensive system and have one of the best if not the best goalie in the league. So credit to them for winning the series however I blame the Red Wings for the series being over so quickly. I knew the series would be low scoring, everyone did, and when that happens you need to not make stupid mental errors on defense and beat yourselves. Wings did that way too many times. Some people I saw on FB the other day blaming Howard for game 4. Yeah his fault his team made mental error after mental error.

The injuries for the Wings in early March hurt them now. Couldn't get their chemistry back when most of the guys came back. And then to lose Helm after a period of hockey again hurts. Eaves being out most of the year with concussion-like symptoms after taking that puck to the jaw hurts too. Babcock said it early in the series. You lose your best two penalty killers Datsyuk and Zetterberg play more on defense and you'd much rather have big minutes on offense. Just wasn't their year.

Wings need to make a few changes but it's hard in the cap world. They are still a Cup contending team. Parise should be their #1 priority in the offseason. They need a jolt up front and imagine him with Frazen and Datsyuk. If Lidstrom retires they can look at Suter too probably. Lidstrom is gonna need to take less than his 6mil if they are going to make changes though.

Oh and Mike Milbury the Wings should have lost the last game of the year? Hawks are in the same spot as the Wings were down 3-1 and the Hawks were playing well going into the playoffs so obviously losing wouldnt have gotten them a better situation.

Fuck yeah. Sends a message but not that much. I still think Weber getting 2 games would have sent a stronger message than Torres getting 25 honestly.

25 is the remainder of the playoffs if they Yotes go to game 7 of the finals and every series they are in goes 7. So I like that. Hope they get swept in round 2 so hes gone long term next year

Wow. Good move, but still very off kilter with some of the already levied suspensions.

If anyone didn't notice, the most games the Coyotes can play for the remainder of this year is 24, and since Game 4 counted as the first of his suspension, he won't be seeing the ice until next season.

Exactly. It's ridiculous to punish a hockey play like this, even if it did cross a line, and then let an assault walk away with joke of a fine.

Judging players based on who they are rather than the seriousness of the violation is a bad move, IMO.

I agree with most of this, but I wouldnt necessarily call the Torres hit a "hockey play." Hits like that dont belong in the game, (nor do turnbuckle-like head smashes into the boards). It just shows how little respect Torres has for others in the league.

I'm guessing the 25 includes game 4 in which he didn't play so it's the rest of the playoffs essentially.

Yeah. While he deserves a huge suspension and I'm fine with 25 games regardless I think he's being used as a scapegoat. Shanny missed the boat on the Weber play which led to the complete chaos the next 5 days and culminated with the Torres hit. He had to do something big to try and stop all of that and it worked out that it was a guy like Torres. If it's Ovie doing that same exact play on someone, no way he gets 25 games.
