Amazing how this thread pretends Tampa Bay Lightning doesnít exist.

Iím a Caps fan first, Lightning fan second. Bolts donít bring the drama quite the same way Washington does. But I also only come in this thread during the playoffs, soooo....... :shrug

Re: The NHL Thread (Hot takes! 3elieve!)

Caps probably don't deserve the lead they've got. Strong goaltending getting them through at the moment. Ovie's gotta start finishing the breakaway chances. Those chances are too good to shoot wide every time.

That's a really bad interference break.

The last 5 minutes of the Bruins game have been the most exciting hockey I have watched all year

Re: The NHL Thread (Hot takes! 3elieve!)

Caps have played an okay road game so far, not great, but decent. Most of CBJs chances have been from the outside. Holtby needs to not get shook here and they could be okay. Had to expect a pushback, especially after a killed 5 on 3. If the Caps can settle and shut down the transition game, they could still get this done

mthawk07 04-23-2018 09:50 PM

Re: The NHL Thread (Hot takes! 3elieve!)

Caps donít get a real scoring chance in 3.5 minutes of power play (including some 5 on 3), then promptly give up the game tying goal. Sounds about right.

The 5 on 3 wasn't a trainwreck but it definitely sucks when those don't turn into goals

Ovi!!!!!

Re: The NHL Thread (Hot takes! 3elieve!)

Caps just gotta settle here. Don't hang back, but don't get excited. Smart, well executed puck management. And stay out of the box.

Does anyone have access to Elias or some equivalent?

I would love to know how successful (or not successful) power plays that split periods are.

The way the Caps are playing it's like they're scared to make it a 2 goal game

That one timer is truly remarkable. Literally everyone knew it was coming. The power Ovie gets behind it is something else.

It seems like any team with a split power play never converts

Ovi finally making big plays in big playoff games. Both goals were sweet.

Ruh roh. Inching closer to Pens-Caps III: Beyond Thunderdome.

Re: The NHL Thread (Hot takes! 3elieve!)

Caps got lucky with that powerplay for sure, but they've been pretty solid defensively still. This little skirmish in front of Holtby is one of the rare times that Jackets have gotten some action in Braden's crease. Late PK here, gonna carry over and the Jackets will get a fresh sheet with basically the full two minutes to get back in it. Big period coming up. Huge period for Ovie just there. Hopefully it won't be for naught.

Respectfully disagree. Another period but I love how we are playing tonight in every aspect.
