From an interview yesterday with WTOP. Leonsis said:

Quote:

”There’s been some reach out from the White House and this will be a team decision, I’ve said that from Day One,” Leonsis said. “They’re in discussions right now but I think that they will have an answer to that soon. Again, it’s our players and coaching staff that will decide and whatever they decide I think that the team would support that.”
This is basically a carbon copy of what he said about a month ago. It seems to me the plan is to just keep deflecting the trump thing with the “we’re in talks and will announce a decision soon” line until they can change it to “we are now deep in the playoff push and don’t have time for distractions” and then eventually it’s playoffs and no one will ask anymore.

In my opinion, this is the perfect strategy.

Pens send Brassard and Sheahan, 2019 second round pick, and two 2019 fourth round picks to FLA for McCann and Bjugstad

Knew brassard would probably be out, looks like a good haul for pens

Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.

Thats a LOT to give up for Bjugstad and Mcann who are a combined -3 with 13 goals. Really surprised Sheahan was included in this.

Pens basically gave away 3 draft picks for a culture change with less talent at C3 and C4

Shame the hawks have almost no chance to make the postseason or Kane would certainly gain a lot of votes for MVP. Another 4 point game for him tonight against BUF - 2 goals and 2 assists!

Always forget what a jerk Ristolainen is until the sabres play the Hawks or Pens - then it all comes back. He is dirty as hell!

Seven in a row and 8 out of the last 9. Unbelievable. Can't wait for the offsetting six-game losing streak.

Kane gets an A to extend his point streak to 11 games. Amazing. Sucks that Kucherov
got an A as well so Kane is still 5 points behind him!

No Chance Keith waves his no trade clause. He is a Chicago Blackhawk for life and a damn good player.

Quote:

Duncan Keith has been a critical part of the Blackhawks throughout his 14-year NHL career. But will he be part of the future?

The Blackhawks have not spoken to him about waiving his no-move clause, Keith told reporters prior to Chicago's 7-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Friday.

"I like it here in Chicago, and nobody's mentioned anything to me," the 35-year-old defenseman said. "I haven't really thought too much about anything. You get reports out there. I don't know where that stuff kind of comes from. I just take it one day at a time."

Keith's comments came after Pierre LeBrun said on TSN's Insider Trading on Thursday that the Blackhawks will talk to Keith about options before the trade deadline.

Keith, signed through the 2022-23 season, helped Chicago win the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He has 565 points (94 goals, 471 assists) in 1,047 regular season NHL games and 81 points (18 goals, 63 assists) in 126 postseason games. Keith has 22 points (two goals, 20 assists) in 52 games this season.

The Blackhawks (19-24-9, 47 points) are five points behind the Colorado Avalanche (22-20-8, 52 points) for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. Chicago plays the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; NBC).

Keith would be a great asset for a contending team, considering past accomplishments and present level of play. He leads Chicago with 22:41 of ice time a game this season and has played all 82 games five times in his NHL career, including last season.

"I'm not going to start getting into all that and create a bunch of stories here about what I would think, about what I would do, speculate on how I would feel," Keith said. "Not getting into that."

I don't understand this Flyers team at all, but hey this Hart fella might be an ok goalie. 41 stops on 42 shots

Haven't been to a Caps game yet this year but was on the boards for a Flyers game. Since I attended the Flyers game they haven't lost and the Caps have lost 8 of 9

Should I start a GoFundMe to stop the madness?

No because I haven’t claimed something ridiculous with my statement. If I said Carter Hart will have a better career that Patrick Roy guaranteed then you could call me out and try and make a bet.

Thanks for playing.

After all these years.... Man, we found our goalie.

I fucking knew it would be Hart. Just the way he talks and goes about his business. It's not normal for someone who is just 20. I couldn't believe it happened this fast. He's special.

I'm not ready to jump all in on Hart yet. But I am enjoying the ride at the moment. Hindsight of course and he needed some AHL time, but it sure would be interesting to know where the team would be if he started the season in Philly or even came up in November/early December as the tank was happening.

I know how you feel sort of man. About 2 years ago I went on a cruise and the Hawks had 3 games and the Raiders (NFL obviously) had 2 games. While I was unable to watch them on the ship the Hawks won all 3 games and the Raiders won both of theirs. I should have written to both teams telling them to fund my vacations because I brought them good luck when I was away! :lol

This one ref on this ice tonight is not doing the Pens any favors. Not sure why the league doesn't mandate an emergency official to be in the arena in order to jump in if a situation like this arises.

In fairness they played 2 solid periods against a team that is surging. Draisaitl and McDavid had solid nights as well. Then in the third it was like the Oilers just threw in the towel. Hockey can be a frustrating game.

nope, no fairness for that. Its what they do. Last three games they've gone into the 3rd with a lead and lost. They just fall apart when things go wrong. Previous 2 at least they got to OT.

I think they need some sport psychologists in the organization. Based on PC's collusion with the Flames (that's all that can explain it) I think theyare as good as they're getting at hockey skills this season. Which actually is ok-ish. When you have 29, 93, and 97 it's at least ok.
But they have no resilience - maybe some meditation and mindset training, or a spirit-quest or something is what they need.

What’s up with the lighting in Nashville? The corners look dark.
