Dave Isaac of the Courier Post reported Flyers will fire Hakstol tonight or tomorrow morning and they will hire Quenneville. And it sounds like Anthony SanFillipo said he heard the same, but deal for Q isn't finalized and that they could have an interim coach for Tuesday's game.

Some shmuck I never heard of, however, said he spoke to Q who said he's not going to Philly. So we shall see.

Hawks got screwed on a lousy call that ended up yielding the tying goal on the PP. One of the Sharks tried to blast one from the blue line and it was blocked by David Kampf's stick, since he was near the blue line he poked the puck out to clear the zone and his stick fell apart so they tagged him 2 minutes for playing with a broken stick. I know the rule exists but on a bang bang play like that where instinct takes over how is he supposed to know t he stick is broken until he tries to use it again? BS, pretty sure it was the refs making up for a call they missed when Marcus Kruger got his stick up in the face of a Shark but none of the officials saw it a the time so no penalty was called.

In before the Q isn’t a good fit for this team.

For him to turn it around would take a lot of time. I don’t think he wants to make the capital investment. Flyers right now aren’t a quick fix. They aren’t a jumpstart away from contending

Flyers have some great young talent. Not hard seeing them contend soon.

Flyers called up Carter Hart. I hate this move.

How can you hate this move? Are you Ron Hextall?

I guess we're in just a different time now where you call guys up and just see what happens? I don't know. I feel like this is the baseball comparison to bringing up a pitcher too early. Yeah. Some young guns hit every once in a while. But it's not often. Hopefully he plays well.

This team is trash and I would have preferred he start most of the games down in the AHL, lead them to the playoffs, see what happens there and then win a job in camp next season. I mean, what's the point here? He alone isn't saving this ship. Happy to eat my words and I hope he's good.

Hart is cut from different material than most players. I believe it was Sam Carchidi who did a great profile on Hart and what makes him tick. Kid has a better understanding of sports psychology than most vets.

Carchidi's piece on Hart. It's a great read. I just enjoyed going through it again: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...-20180627.html

^Thanks for posting.

Hakstol officially fired now. Phantoms coach (Gordon) interim for now.

Hart up, Hak out... Flyers finally making the right moves it seems. Perhaps Hextall was the problem all along.

Are we sure he's fired or are they gonna retract it? What a cluster fuck of a situation. Q should be 2nd guessing taking the job or not.

Team announced it. They denied last night likely because they were pissed someone leaked it.

Seriously though, wonder what the hell happened here, it had to have been serious enough that non-sports media are covering this.

I had no clue Chicago even had a mascot. What is it, some guy with a real tomahawk?

So Gordon (at least what they are saying now) is the coach the rest of the year? Way to go whoever leaked the Q thing.

He'll coach until they sign Q or someone else. That's how I read what Fletcher said.

I don't doubt you but I always think if you need a new coach you probably also need new players.

I don’t think this is necessarily true. A coach’s message can get stale or become so routine that the players stop responding to said coach as much.

From a practical standpoint, it’s much easier to replace a coach and bring some kind of scenery/worldview change than it is to replace a whole roster.

claude giroux is on pace for another 100 point season, both Ghost and Provy have looked god awful, but they should certainly rebound. the team is much more talented then they are letting on. think they really just wanted to get rid of Hakstol.
