Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
I've finally understood why Philly likes Gritty, because everyone hates him
Everyone hates Gritty and we don't care! |

Took you long enough, Brohan

I mean he is a Caps fan.

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
Austin Wagner is fast. Just needs to work on his shot and watch out. Had multiple breakaways tonight.

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
I like Gritty. And I think Philly is a piss-ridden shithole filled with garbage humans.

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
I’m going full fair-weather bandwagon fan this year. If the oilers are above .500 after 20 games I’ll commit some energy. Life is too short for this. (2 periods into game 1 overreaction)

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
^ They looked terrible today. Outclassed 3 out of every 4 shifts.
Hopefully the Leafs play together as more of a 5 man unit tonight. I'm really excited for this season. Nylander needs to sign a contract (or they trade him) and they'll be awesome. Ooooh so awesome. |

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
Don’t look now, but them Avs...
PS - you guys know I’ve wanted Ian Cole for a while now (I know, I know, Ian Cole? I’m weird like that) and he has not disappointed. Can’t even properly quantify what he means to the young Avs D core. |

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
Toews looking like he has something to prove after last seasons drop in production. 2 games into the season and he already has 20% of his 2017-2018 goals. Central will be a bitch again but if Toews is clicking it makes the Hawks more of a contender.

Chum!!
I’ve picked your avatar image. Sorry for the delay, busy couple days. I have no idea at all how to resize stuff like this to fit an avatar. It’s been so long since I set my avatar I don’t really remember how to do it and I mostly post from my phone. https://goo.gl/images/uLKZEB Also you’re welcome for the first few days of fantasy. I just got around to setting my lineup. :lol |

But man, Varly raves about him (and Varly raves about nothing), the other d-men rave about him, Bednar raves about him. And this is a guy playing 11-ish minutes a night on the third pair and PK. I absolutely love this signing. I think the whole d-core on the Avs has just naturally gotten better as they develop together season by season, but I also think Cole has played a big part in helping tutor their much improved blueline. Speaking of d-core, guys, if you get a chance to view an Avs game, check out Sam Girard. He's been pretty incredible. He could've been the ONLY asset coming back in the Duchene deal and it still would've been a win for the Avs (good lord I love that trade). |

No offense intended but wow does your Kings PP look as awful as the Hawks does at this point! |
Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
The New York Rangers are off to an excellent start to the season. They have raced right to the bottom to try and secure those vital draft pick spots! At this rate, they may not win a game all season!

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
Hawks/Leafs game last night was fun to watch despite the eventual outcome. That last minute was crazy. Kane tied it up with a minute and a half left, 20 seconds later Matthews gave Toronto the lead back and celebrated by holding his hand to his ear as if to tell the crowd he could not hear them then 30 seconds after that Kane tied it again and did the same thing as Matthews to celebrate. Bummer for Chicago in OT though. Between the Rangers game and the Hawks game it was a goalies nightmare seeing 26 goals go in the net. Nice start for the Hawks to the year though, I will happily take 5 out of 6 points when 2 of the 3 games were on the road.

I am confused. Why is the NHL playing day games on a Monday right now? Are they in Europe or something?

My only real grip was that the game was on the NHL network rather than local Chicago so the had the Leafs announcers calling the Chicago home opener. Seemed like they should have used the Hawks crew for their home opener but what do I know. :) |

Re: The NHL Thread: Where The Gritty Things Are
My sister is a sports editor for a paper in Alabama, she used her weekly editorial column this week to write one final piece on the Caps winning the Cup. Shameless family plug for sure, but it's a touching read, and she could sure use the bonus clicks.
