Was just reading an article about it. Tuesday at 5pm EDT is when rosters must be at 23.

any promos for center ice this year?

Re: The NHL Thread

Datsyuk might actually play Thursday. Doesn't have the no-contact jersey on and is skaing with Z and Abdelkader. I'm hoping for a year of not waiting for the post practice injury updates like last year.

RJ signed by Jackets. Intrigued by what the $$ will be.

It's $4mil per. Wow like we all kinda expected. Amazing how much bullshit goes into these things and it ends up right where we thought. Will be interested to see what his actual salary is in year 3 though with the qualifying offer thing.

Re: The NHL Thread

looks like it was a 3 year deal, most of the money coming in year 3.

interesting the jackets caved on that.

TMoore4075 10-06-2014 08:27 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

3-3-6 is how it breaks down. He gets the $6mil in the final year but Jackets get a 3 year deal instead of the 2 that RJ's camp had offered a few weeks back.

the more i think about it the more i really don't like that deal and shocked that the FO folded.

sets awful precedent for all of the other young talent in this system.

i agree that it sets a bad precedent but i also think the jackets didn't have much of a choice at this point

Re: The NHL Thread

actually it looks like the longest deal he could get through arbitration at the end of this deal is 1 year according to Lebrun so maybe it's not that bad of an idea.

Stoked! Got my credentials for Thursday's home opener. Going to morning skate as well for a boat load of interviews for a couple stories.

The front office definitely didn't cave. They've always wanted RJ signed and they were willing to give him the money--just not up front. The fact that he goes up to 6 mil in the final year gives 'Bus a great way to either extend him to a long term contract or get rid of him without being overly trapped by his deal.

So Bucci is saying the division winners are Ducks, Blues, Bruins and Jackets. While I'll give him the Metro is pretty wide open, I just don't see it.

Anyone else doing the NHL twitter trivia. I know I got the first two questions right, but after it's done they randomly choose from the correct answers. A lot of people were getting question 1 wrong when I answered. What team holds the record for most points in a single season?

Sad about no more CBC, well not as much anyways. A year ago i'd be watching Habs and Leafs on Wednesday night.

I am really excited about this NYR team. Their final roster is looking better than I thought it would. Lots of young talent mixed with vets. Not expecting a Cup, but I also don't think the "step back" that every one is calling for will be all that bad. Could totally see this roster making the 2nd round or even ECF this season!

It was not Detroit. It was Montreal. Only reason I know that one is cause Detroit has the record for most wins at 62 but had 131 points that year. Montreal had 60 wins sometime in the 70's but had 132 points. Scotty Bowman coached both teams. lol

I didn't win anything, although of the 4 questions I was able to answer, I got 3 of them right.

So what is the deal with the TV rights in Canada now?

Also, ESPN's Power ranking are pathetic. I agree with the top 5 for the most part, but how they have NY at 12 behind some of the teams listed above them is laughable. No way should Tamps and Pitt.

The only thing I know about the TV deal in Canada is HNIC still happens on CBC on Saturday nights but Ron is not hosting anymore.
