*** Official Chicago 2020 ***

As rumored: Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th at Northerly Island.

We'd all prefer Alpine but here we are. I'll be there Friday for sure, Saturday is a maybe. :monkey

I’ll be at both nights! Two shows in Chicago was a pleasant surprise, hadn’t kept up on all the rumor dates. Last time full band played here the sets were !

I'm seriously considering this venue. I love Chicago, cheap flights from South Florida. However I keep hearing this venue is trash...

It’s really not.

The pit is small and intimate. You also have easy access to bathrooms.

Everyone gripes about the lawn. I’ve never been on the lawn so I can’t say much but there’s plenty of big venues that have crappy lawn.

We just get sad cuz alpine is the best of the best.

Get good tickets and plan ahead, you will have a great time. The venue does have some negatives, but I think it's pretty overblown.

A late June weekend in Chicago on the lake with two DMB shows doesn't sound too bad.

Small and intimate? Clearly you've never been to this venue then..

Couldnt say it better. I am so pissed I will be out of town because I love going to Northerly.

People just complain about it because its not Alpine. Lots of positives about the place.

- Anything not in lawn is a good seat. Its small.
- Clean, good bathrooms, easy to get a drink.
- Its a bit of a walk since its on penisula, but its a nice stroll on lake in late June.
- Have fun

There is nothing positive about this venue other than the fact it is in downtown Chicago and there are a lot of bathrooms/beer tents... Since the venue is completely open and is entirely flat the sound is awful and is dictated by the wind coming off the lake. If you want to see the stage i recommend getting seats in one of the bleacher sections on the edges. Or else I hope you are a very tall human bc the rest of the venue, including 100 & 200 level is on the level as the lawn. Speaking of lawn, you can't see the stage AT ALL from the lawn because there is no hill and the entire venue is a flat surface and has zero incline (I've sat in both SPAC and NI lawn and you have a better chance of seeing the stage from SPAC lawn).

Fuck I hate this venue. Will I end up going? Yet to be determined.

I like Northerly.

I used to hate it.

Pros -
    • downtown Chicago
    • easy access to bars/restaurants etc, tons of stuff to do.
    • Short bathroom lines
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Nice big pit (easier to get tickets for a group)
    • Nice organized tailgate right by the lake.
    • Short Beer Lines

https://www.facebook.com/events/616987002394172/

Cons -
  • So much traffic, getting to and from the venue sucks. If you're willing to walk you're good.
  • Lawn sucks
  • Good pavilion can be hard to get
  • IT'S NOT ALPINE

The stage is really high..... no problems seeing from the pit or seats.

Lawn is another story...

Obviously you either don’t know how to read or never been in the pit.

Can't make Friday, will try for Saturday. Wasn't expecting Alpine again, but still a bummer after going to AV for the first time since 2009 last summer.

It's deff one of the biggest...

Pits that are bigger:

Alpine?
Lake Tahoe?

Lake Tahoe is almost entirely GA?

Gorge is pretty big. I've heard Bristow as well.

I think Northerly's is bigger than Alpine and Gorge though.

First timer at this one...what are the logistics getting in? I booked a hotel about 10 min car ride away. Uber? Train? Thanks in advance

Just depends on what you plan on doing before the show. I would plan on getting within walking distance early and you will be fine. You could Uber closer to the venue and just kill some time on the museum campus by the lake or go to a bar/restaurant within 1-2 miles from the venue and walk or take a pedicab. Traffic is horrible in the area, so just don’t plan on hopping in an Uber an hour before the show and you’ll be fine.

Same with leaving the venue. I’d walk with the crowd away from the venue to a less congested area and grab a cab.

Maybe it's just me but ticket prices seem ridiculous this year. Requested 4 pits for Friday and it's $571. Basically $142 a ticket at face value. That's insanity.

Largely depends on what hotel you booked...

There is literally no reason to request tickets for this through the WH. You'll be able to get PIT seats pretty easy without the risk of being denied and given the $80 shit reserved seats from the WH that you'll be stuck eating since you won't be able to resell them.

Re: *** Official Chicago 2020 ***

Normally I'd agree but last time they played Chicago it sold very well and it wasn't as easy as i thought. I remember because I was trying to get additional pit tickets for other people and it was a lot harder than years past. I've had good luck with Warehouse though so we'll see what happens :knocksonwood:

10 min car ride? So you're staying at Solider field? haha

Did you not do any shows last year? Pretty sure the price is pretty close if not the same..

Re: *** Official Chicago 2020 ***

I did, Warehouse was not $140 per pit. I think Live Nation got as high as $138 after fees but Warehouse was less. I just did Alpine and that's it. Maybe it's me but I feel like it was always less than $130 per ticket through Warehouse.
