Speaking of "Bannertown, USA," when are we doing our Ants thread awards again? I need to add to my metaphorical rafters

Agreed!

Also, when are we going to get ants NHL emojis?

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Key points for tonight's games:

-Can the Rangers continue to frustrate the Habs offense and steal game 2?

-Will Columbus be able to put up more of a fight, or will this series really just be the 4-0 sweep I expected?

-Allen had 51 saves in a game 1 win for the Blues. How long can he keep the ship from sinking under that pressure?

-Can the Oilers look good for more than 20 minutes of hockey?

-Will a Canadian team finally win a game in these playoffs? (hopefully not in Montreal!)

-Can we still figure out a way to name the entire Hawks roster in this thread when the Hawks are off tonight?

Tonight's picks:

Columbus at Pittsburgh: Penguins-3 Blue Jackets-2 OT

St. Louis at Minnesota: Wild-4 Blues-1

San Jose at Edmonton: Oilers-3 Sharks-2

and finally....

New York at Montreal: Rangers-3 Canadiens-1

Not thrilled with the flat start for the first 8 minutes or so. Beyond thrilled that Sid got his 50th career postseason goal!

^ Unfortunately the Habs' offense does not appear quite as frustrated tonight.

They beat Hank without a stick in the first one. Even the announcers called that goal happening about 30 seconds before it did. Second got Hank stick side.

I actually like the way the Rangers have played, but they have no room for any more errors now.

Ouch! That'll do it. And now the Habs have a 5-3. So much for committing no more errors!

I really like the way the Rangers are playing! I'll take a 1 goal lead into the third any day!

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Yes indeedy! Just one more period for both the Rags and Pens! I'd like the Pens to give up fewer chances, but that Crosby-Guentzel-Sheary line is so secksay!

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Pretty sure a number of pens were playing possum this season.

I'll PM Matty soon and see if I can help him knock these out this year. I remember last year he said his creative juices were burning out so I'll try to steer it back on the rails

2 down! #Jacketsin5, eh? :lol Don't know if Columbus can win 4 out of 5 against the Pens, but we shall we. I like the Pens' chances to advance right now, though.

Pens flipped a switch. We'll see how far it can take them

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Calverts hit was pretty unnecessary at the end there.

I somehow knew that was coming....

Why was Nick Holden on the ice?????

Grabner was hurt. Entire line was tired. Inexcusable, but understandable.

Let's go OT

Yeah I don't know why everyone thought the Jackets were an actual threat. Ivd been saying for weeks that I don't trust them. And this also further emphasizes my point that the Caps cannot get lost in a lengthy series with the fucking Leafs. Pittsburgh has zero intention of doing the same with Columbus.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

The jackets strategy probably would have rattled a Bylsma led Pens, but things are different now. We saw this show last playoffs.

Grabner had two chances to clear the puck too. Oh well, overtime. Rangers are playing with house money either way.

All of this is true as fuck.

Rangers in under 5 minutes

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Pens looked dominant tonight.

I could see Calvert getting a game for that cross check.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Just a matter of when for MTL in OT. Rangers with no momentum since 6 min left in the 3rd.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Excellent defensive shift by NYR.

unccrombie 04-14-2017 07:04 PM

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Rangers with nothing going through 7. Yikes

Its been all habs so far.

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

This will be one of those lopsided ot games where nyr get one on their one chance

daveshookme 04-14-2017 07:11 PM

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

Rangers have been playing real well albeit entirely in their defensive zone. Not a good look
