Lying In the Hands of God Live

Anybody have any opinions on what will happen with this song? It is my favorite on the album that I have heard (only have heard 1/2 of it, saving some for when I get the CD)...but I was thinking about it and wondering if they will still play this song without roi or if they will just leave it to rest with the album version and that's it. Thoughts?

Mine too. I'm sure they may play it during the summer. I'd love to see Dave and Tim play this song. I'd be beautiful :thumbsup

I think they'll def play this this summer ~ Grux however will never be played and I am calling that right now.

I hope it's played during the Fuse Broadcast. Musically it's by far the best song on the CD.

I want to hear this and You and Me really bad

Re: Lying In the Hands of God Live

yeah i agree on the Grux...but this is very heavily based on lines from Roi as well...not saying jeff couldn't cover these...but i just don't know. I really hope they do play it sometime this summer... because if it doesn't happen this summer it's likely to never happen. I do believe if they do play it, it will be one of, if not the final song they bring out from the album (not including Grux)

Love this song! Not sure about live, although I'd love to hear it. Anyone think it'd be a little vocally challenging for Dave...especially later in the tour?

It doesn't strike me as a song that would translate to the stage very well, at least in the normal DMB concert setting. It would be absolutely beautiful at a D+T show, however.

are you kidding me? this is one the best musical pieces on the album.....I see it being a 10+ jam easily.

Yeah this will probably be at its best with D&T

I think so too, other than the studio version of course. Its perfect on the album. They cannot recreate Dave's three-part harmonies in any setting, unfortunately. I think it has potential to be good full band, but I can imagine a Stay Or Leave type of epicness D&T.

Yes its one of the best musical pieces on the album, but what does that have to do with translating live?

I think it'd be alot better live D+T than live DMB.

My favorite song on the album and it would be perfect for that E1 slot.

This song is destined to be a rarity.

My favorite as well; while I hope for play live, I don't think they'll do it and I have to agree with a post earlier stating that Grux will not show live.

I can 100 percent see this song being played D&T with Reynolds ripping off a crazy acoustic solo.

I bet Jeff would, and i think i love jeff more than most on here, however, i sorta like this song being the last main song roi is featured on, and it would sorta be nice if they kept this album only as a tribute to him

Re: Lying In the Hands of God Live

Can somebody tell me why they think LITHOG won't be played live much...if at all? If there is something technical about it that I am unaware of that's fine, but the fact that Roi is featured prominently on it won't hold them back I don't think. Look at all the classic DMB songs that were Roi-specialties, and those still get heavy rotation on the setlists.

Re: Lying In the Hands of God Live

I'll throw this out there because it's my initial thoughts: Lying in the Hands of God is very similar to The Dreaming Tree. Not very similar to lyrics and whatnot, but similar flow, seems long and it builds on itself. Very mature and developed song, really shows how great the band is now. Will definitely translate into a GREAT live song (although I used Dreaming Tree this weekend as a beer break, I will admit).

Funny to see this thread sticking out because that is THE DMB song stuck in my head right now - bumping out JTR, which sat there for days. It doesn't feel "new." It feels like DMB classic.
