The Pens are really doing the NHL an injustice with their pathetic play in this series. Who would have thought that the golden boy would be responsible for a black eye on the league with the way his team has carried itself during this series

the way the Penguins have acted this entire series, and the reason they are down, is a direct reflection of their leadership. They should win the Stanley Cup with this team, and here they are down 3-0, being completely dominated, and looking like absolute morons.

but yeah, Crosby is a great leader. Give me a break.

How can you say this?!?!?! I thought only Philly fans were biased in their hatred towards Cindy!

Both the Flyers and Penguins are pathetic. Fighting is secondary to the game and both teams made fighting the main focus of the game. Shame on the players, the coaches and both organizations to put on that circus show on national TV.

And if you were to tell me last year that all this would be going down between the flyers and pens I would have bet the bank that Matt Cooke would have been at the center of it

Never disliked the Pens until today.

Did you watch the game?

Asham's suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.

Once again, Cindy is whining to the press.

Anyone who doesn't understand the dislike of this guy is blind. Punches to the back of the head, being the 3rd guy in, in a fight, give me a break. His leadership was laughable yesterday. Again he's said Steve Yzerman was his idle. Stevie didn't pull that crap.

So in saying that, I laugh at the Pens. I have to say the series has been exciting but damn 3-0? I love it.

Wings offense again couldn't buy a goal when it counted on Sunday. The goal scored after time expired was the perfect example. .2 seconds earlier and it's a tie game.

Panthers, good for you. Nice to see them get a win. Almost blew it but nice to see.

And damn Canucks. Lou gets yanked in favor for Schneider to start, and you still lose. First 8 seed to go up 3-0.

Great weekend for hockey though. Who would have thought that the two series that would be 3-0 would be the Cancuks/Kings and Pens/Flyers?

At this point, I have to believe that you just say things knowing them to be false to maintain your persona in this thread. The Flyers played a tough, clean game yesterday. The Penguins acted like uncontrollable fools.

I'm losing more and more respect for Brendan Shanahan. Said he was going to give Weber a one game suspension but changed his mind when Holland said Zetterberg was fine.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Someone really needs to tell Shannahan he needs to be more concerned with the action and less concerned with the result. He's pretty awful at his job. I can even make a succinct power point to explain why.

dduncan6er 04-16-2012 09:59 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Apparently Shannahan said on NY radio this morning that Hagelin's suspension may be reduced if Alfredsson plays tonight. Does his thought process make sense to anyone else besides himself?

bradshaw06 04-16-2012 10:06 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Agreed, result should not impact discipline. I forget who mentioned it in here, (dj i think) but i think eventually you will see guys and teams reporting players are more severely injured than they really are in order to get tougher penalities against the opposition.

dduncan6er 04-16-2012 10:08 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Yea I said that a few days ago. Campbell was kind of inconsistent as well but not nearly as inconsistent as Shannahan has been.

As a NYR fan I'm thrilled to hear this but honestly what the hell goes through Shanahan's head? He gives a guy with absolutely no history (has never received a 5 minute major EVER) a 3 game suspension for a hit that happened in the heat of the game with IMO no attempt to injure, but then gives a guy with numerous prior offenses and a clear pre-meditated attempt to injure on a defenseless player 1 game?

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

:lol Not even going to try to backread to see what y'all had to say about the weekend's action. The page count says enough!

The playoffs thus far have been as exciting as I always plan on them being, but left me surprised on a couple levels. Seeing the complete breakdown of the Penguins has been a huge disappointment. Not from the standpoint that I've wanted them to win it all (I'd already officially thrown my support to the Preds), but just to see a team THAT talented experience such an utter breakdown is extremely sad. A lot of learning to be done from this one, and yes, Crosby is at the top of the list. I'm a huge supporter of him in this thread and out, but I'm just shaking my head like a disappointed father right now.

The Preds game was the only one I was able to watch in its entirety yesterday, and what a game it was. First off, going back to Game 2, I loved seeing Bertuzzi have the balls to go with Weber, and then having it settled. Nothing more was said (at least off the ice), and everyone's moved on. For Game 3, the stars were definitely Klein and Rinne. Guys like Klein are the guys I love... quietly go about doing their job, and then stepping in at the right times. The Preds were OBVIOUSLY gassed at the end of the game, but kudos to them for taking advantage of opportunities and finishing. Rinne was a beast.

Loving the success of the Kings right now, hope they can keep it up. My SLC boy Trevor Lewis is representin'.

Shanny started strong, but now is pretty inconsistent. Its almost as if he was told to tune it down.

fonzz41 04-16-2012 10:17 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I agree with DJ - completely puzzled at the idea of basing suspensions on the extent of the injury. So it's ok to cheap shot a guy as long as he's not injured after?

C'mon Shanny, don't make me post the "breaking my heart" link for you too.

And DJ, let me know if you need the template for the powerpoint ;)

It makes no sense at all. Punish the infraction, not the result.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

If he gives Weber two games that sends a message to everyone and I think a lot of this crap doesn't happen. Sitting a star down for 2 games would be sending a strong message imo. Yes it could help determine a series but that's should not factor into his decision. That should factor into Weber's thinking not Shanny's. And that goes for al the players who did crap I'm just using Weber as the example, basically because that's where this all started.

I don't think Crosby could sound more like a baby.

Crosby: I don’t like any guy on their team. His glove was near me, he went to pick it up and I pushed it.
Reporter: Because why, I’m sorry?
Crosby: I don’t like him.
Reporter: Why don’t you like him?
Crosby: Because I don’t like him. I don’t like any guy on their team. So...

Kindergarten shit. :lol
