Grabovski with a 5 year extension from Toronto at $5.5 million a year. :lol:lol:lol How Burke still has a job is beyond me.

Wow, that Patrick Sharp cap hit of $5.9 is starting to look pretty good.

Can someone explain why Chara's cap hit goes down $3 million his final year under contract?

It does? I didn't know that.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I'm sure it's something to do with him being over 40 that year of the deal. His contract probably falls under the new deal that was agreed on after the whole Kovy thing. Why it's listed as a cap hit at that you'd have to ask them. But if you do the math his cap number should be lower than 6.9mil because 45 over 7 years is 6.4

From JVR's mouth: laviolette is a dick and nobody cares what he has to say or wants to play for him. You won't find a news article with that quote but it was said in private to my close friend and mutual friend of ours. JVR grew up in my town and now that he's hurt has been back around.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Someone on twitter posted an interesting though. Everyone is assuming there will be a rollback in salaries with the new cba and he's wonder if they are building that into these extentions. So the new Grabo deal would be more around 4-4.5mil if salaries around rolled back 20-25%.

I find that unlikely. Laviolette isn't going anywhere this season. Team better buckle up and stop whining.

Kessel, St. Louis, Perry, Sharp, Hossa, Ryan, Kesler...just some guys with similar contracts. Keep up the good work, Toronto.

Just passing on what I've heard. I personally like the guy, but they are way too banged up to make a serious run anyway.

People are assuming they'll be a salary rollback in the next cba because the split won't be 57% going to the players so we'll probably have a rollback again like we did in 05. So this blogger was wonder if the GM's were building that into these extensions thinking the Grabovski deal today won't actually be worth the 5.5mil cap hit.

According to the Penguins Facebook page, Sidney Crosby is cleared for contact. No timetable, but here's to hoping his recovery sticks this time.

Edit: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Crosby could potentially be in the lineup as early as Sunday.

Yeah just saw that. Not to be the downer but I'll believe it when I see it. Hope so though. While I don't really like the kid don't want someone to have to retire prematurely.

We have all the tools to make a run this year. We're young, but so were the 80's teams.

:thumbsup Gotcha.

I never know the details of the CBA as well as I should, for any sport, but isn't that a lot to assume as a GM?

I'm with you. I have to believe that all parties involved are being as careful as possible. We shall see.

Dude should just wait until next season, and I mean that in all honesty. The more time he has to heal, the better for everyone.

That is a lot to assume I agree. Also most GM's show they don't care all that much a lot of times when signing some of these deals so...

I would have to agree although Crosby doesn't seem to be the guy to just sit back if he's well enough to play. Plus the Pens are doing pretty well without him.

Hossa, Ricahrds, and Carter shouldn't even be "comparables" when their deals are more than twice as long, though.

Overpaid but not the most overpaid player on that list....I'd say if anything Grabovski is slightly underrated because he doesn't put up huge numbers.

I would give every single player on that list $5.5 before Grabovski.

Vinny Lecavalier told Lightning management the same shit in 2003 about Tortorella. Their response? Too fucking bad.

Then they won a cup the next year.

Laviolette knows his stuff and shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.

The best coaches are the biggest pains in the ass usually. How many times did I hear how much Scotty was an asshole around here. And he was there's no question. The stories from Aaron Ward are legendary lol. But come June when 3 out of 9 years you were raising a Cup you loved him.

Babcock seems like a hard ass too, hot quite as much of a douche as Scotty could be but same thing there. Coaches aren't supposed to be your friend.

The market set Grabovski's value.

Look at the contracts that Hemsky and Ruutu just got. Grabovski is a better player than both of them, in my opinion.
