Honestly would have rather just kept all our picks and made no deals. Right now, the team just doesn't have what it takes and I don't think 1 or 2 players is going to change anything. Maybe it energizes the players. But at the moment, I'd rather miss the playoffs and get Q fired because there is just too much intept coaching, too much pathetic and lazy effort from the players, and injuries at a bad time killing our depth.

Would have rather gone for it big time with a couple of trades in the off-season.

Would be excited if Roy came to Hawks but I'm not counting on it.

Who? Oduya? Not really "great"...

Looks like the bruins aren't going to do anything. With Horton likely out for the year, chances for repeating are slim to none.

Haha your team needs to stop the puck from finding its way into the back of its net. He will help do that. Ask any devils fan how much they wish they didn't give him up.

Yeah, exactly....
Decent player who is certainly not turning around this sinking ship.

Problem is....
Rocky is paying $75-77m in player salaries this year, doesn't want to add more salary.
But Rocky also is drunk on playoff success from 09 & 10 and probably won't allow any selling of current players that might have some value.

Oh, I'm very aware of what he can do, but we need more than just him. It's great if we can land Derek Roy. Or Gaustad as a consolation prize, but Oduya on his own doesn't make us a SC contender.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I don't think anything is going to turn this team into a Cup contender. Kane, Sharp, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook...they just aren't taking over and putting the team on their backs. All have been sub-par lately right when they need to step up. Just goes to show how important Toews is, I guess.

God, I hope he's not the consolation prize for us not wanting to give up enough for Roy...:BANG

If any team gave up a first for Gaustad I will laugh my ass off. Except if its the bruins in which case I'll cry.

For an UFA I'd be surprised. My guess is if he gets moved this late the Sabres were the ones that caved..just a guess.

Damn good move for Predators, absolutely. Any contender would love to have Gaustad on their bottom-6.

He kills penalties and plays well with others. He's one of those guys you don't always notice on the ice, but does his job well creating space for skill guys. He was doing really well playing with Ryan O'Reilly here.

Galiardi had a lot of upside as an agitating winger who could produce offensively. However, he hasn't seem to find that sandpaper again after coming back from a pretty serious injury. Like I said, the acquisition of Downie made him expendable in Colorado. Hopefully he can find his game in SJ.

Thanks. FWIW, McGinn has had a solid season. Mostly spends time on 3rd line, but has top 6 potential, was a decent scorer in juniors. There just wasn't room in our top 6 for him here. If he continues the growth he's shown this year he should be good for you.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Yea I don't understand why they wouldn't move Knuble. Probably could have got a 3rd rounder for him in this market.
