They are quite puzzling. The Ruutu deal in particular blows my mind.

McKenzie reporting possible deal with SJS and COL regarding Daniel Winnik. I love that guy and would hate to see him go.

This just happened. Damn. Galiardi became expendable with the acquisition of Downie, but I hate to see Winnik go. Interested to see what SJS gave up (hasn't been confirmed yet).

Because it's a shit organization run by preschoolers.

Hawks were reported front runners on Oduya all day. I felt this one coming.

Still not enough coffee in the world to keep me awake right now. Although Dreger reporting a late charge for Nash. Have a feeling he's not gone until the draft.

2nd and 3rd round picks from Hawks for Oduya.

Great trade for the Jets.

So another piece of the Kovy trade no longer with Atlanta/Winnipeg. You listening Columbus?

Winnik is a hard worker, first and foremost, which is why I like him. He doesn't seem to have the best instincts in the world, and I think that's why he's not a top 6 forward, but he works extremely hard every shift, plays well around the net, and uses his body well. He kills penalties and plays well with others. He's one of those guys you don't always notice on the ice, but does his job well creating space for skill guys. He was doing really well playing with Ryan O'Reilly here.

Galiardi had a lot of upside as an agitating winger who could produce offensively. However, he hasn't seem to find that sandpaper again after coming back from a pretty serious injury. Like I said, the acquisition of Downie made him expendable in Colorado. Hopefully he can find his game in SJ.

The bruins not having a 2nd rounder this year is really hurting them I think.

Ehhhh.....just not a very good deal for a team that might not make the playoffs. Is Oduya going to change that all that much? Probably not. Sure as hell one bottom-4 d-man isn't going to change the culture of not giving a fuck around this team right now.

2nd and a 3rd for a month and a half of a bottom-4 defenseman is a LOT to give up.

2013 picks make it hurt a little less, but yeah. Especially if the Hawks tank next year. Not hatin, just sayin...

And I'm interested in seeing what Oduya brings. Hasn't had a good couple seasons with ATL/WPG, but I've watched him play and the potential is there to be a solid d-man in the NHL. Be interesting to see what a change of scenery brings.
