Also - hi everyone.

I've been on the opposite end of that with a hard wrist shot where the puck was on end and got really elevated. Hit the guy just above the jaw, and he was on the ice for a hot minute afterward. He didn't need stitches but it cut him under the helmet and stunned him. Dude wasn't wearing a cage and was lucky I missed his jaw/eye.

Wear a cage, folks.

Btw, I've been hit in the toe with slap shots enough to shudder at the thought of how much it must have hurt to take one off the ear.

Ugh, I took a slapshot to the toe cap of my skate years ago. It cracked my big toenail completely in half. I still think slapshot to the back of the knee is the worst - instant dead leg. (I've never taken one to the face, though)

Hey Chris!! Aside from the ear I hope that you’re doing well.

Haha! I figured that was coming.

My whole team waited until we were fully vaccinated until we joined back up with the league. Luckily a lot of frontline workers among us. And those of us non-frontline joined later until we were fully vaccinated.

Someone tried to dump the puck into the zone and ended up firing one right into our bench. I didn't see it as my head was turned, but I was told he took a clapper from center ice and just completely missed by A LOT. Fired the puck straight into my ear/head.

Doctors said I was lucky to not have any internal damage and the ear guards likely saved me from having permanent internal ear damage - potentially saving me from losing hearing in that ear. I lost and broke cartilage, and needed 18 stitches to put my ear back together, but it could have been WAY worse.

Our entire league folded because of covid. We're hoping to get it back up and running again in the fall. I'm going to try to get back on the ice next month when I'm fully vaccinated. Not looking forward to finding out how out of shape I am lol. Glad other players are being really cautious too!

Your injury looks oddly similar to Luke Kunin's that happened recently. Dude's entire ear was like hanging by a thread just flopping in the breeze lol. Also good to hear (hehe) you avoided permanent damage. Keep your head on a swivel on the bench ;)

Haha I do! And I was! Just really bad timing. I play D, and the guy I change for was skating hard to the bench at a horrible time shouting for a change. So I turned over to look at him shouting at me for a change, and I was waiving him back because he's an idiot and they were carrying the puck into the zone. As I'm waiving him back, that's when the guy took the clapper and it was half a second later, I found myself knocked over on the bench.

Yeah, pretty wild. The shear force of it just destroyed my ear. Shattered my cartilage and the shattered cartilage ripped open my skin.

So is there an update on whether we are going to have to have a full NHL playoffs or just the American teams and Canadian teams? This could get interesting.

Oh yea, we clinched too. Kind of hoping we end up getting the Cats first round. I think the bunch of jerks might be a slightly tougher matchup, but they're close.

Stars game was fun. They didn’t play well but I did get to see Jason Robertson score. Last home game of the season and saw some friends and coworkers I hadn’t seen since pandemic started. Was on TV jammin to Sum 41’s Fat Lip. Good night for sure

If you told me a month ago that the Bruins would pass the Islanders in the standings by May 1st, I probably would've laughed hard since they couldn't beat NYI for the life of them 3 months ago. Taylor Hall is an awesome pickup and I hope they can find their mojo like in 2011 (10 years ago) when they had Seguin.

Lightning are making it really hard to be optimistic going into the playoffs. Just stale games left and right.

And the NHL is an abomination to let it continue.

Why the fuck hasn't someone stepped up and just blindsided the fuck out of this guy yet?
