The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

I never hated the Yankees

And I don’t even remember Sox fans ever “complaining” losing was just a part of being a Sox fan...we probably coined the phrase “there is always next year” but complaining? Nah never really saw/heard it

Just typical posting in an NHL thread about Patriots phrases he doesn't understand and how he wants to be spared by Red Sox fans complaining about not winning the World Series in 86 years, while having the Red Sox and Celtics above the Patriots in fan base rankings

I was thinking the other day, why don't Pittsburg, Las Vegas, Nashville and New York have professional basketball teams?

It was a Red Sox town until the Pats won their second super bowl.

But when the Bruins are good it’s a Bruins town.

Patriots are really popular now because they are winning.

Oh please I understand them. You are acting like Boston fans in general can't be big haters too. Yankee hating used to be a cottage industry.

Yeah it's been that way for going on 20 years, 20,000 people show up for preseason workouts, you have them ranked below the Celtics in fan base

Meh Sox/Yanks hate has been mutual for 100+ years

Just one of them was better at winning and now the other one is

Red Sox hate the Yankees, Yankee fans hate the Red Sox, it is a rivalry

Like I said it's a generational thing, I mean it's the Celtics after all. What if we were having this conversation during the Larry Bird years? If the fan base is still going crazy after Brady and Bill are retired then we'll see.

It’s weird thing to argue when it’s all the same fans lol. They just take on a different personality when it comes to each team

Coverage wise?

It’s Pats/Sox/Cs/Bs

And that has changed over the years and will continue too...it’s fluid with what team is more successful...we are just in this loop where they have all been somewhat successful

This generation has the Patriots above everyone and not all fans like the same things equally, any and all Bruins or Celtics talk is an automatic channel change for me aside from the playoffs.

I turn off Pats off-season stuff what’s going on at camp or OTAs I have no interest in. During the season I look forward to Bedard and Paulie P

Celtics off season drama I find more interesting than regular season talk lol.

Not really, to be honest as a die hard Yankee fan I never hated the Sox, frankly I loved the rivalry but never hated the Sox because they just weren't worth hating up until they finally beat the Yanks in 2004. I never hated them because they could never beat the Yanks! :lol

IMO it’s the greatest sports rivalry of all time.

Agreed, I was simply pointing out that is was a pretty one sided rivalry from the time of Babe Ruth until 2004.

Local Boston channels LEAD with training camp in the summer. it's literally the top story.

I have family in New England and have visited 3 states a lot and it's always been for the majority of time Sox, Celtics, Pats and Bruins. I realize Pats are hot right now but call me 15 years after Brady and Bill are retired. They literally are the best at their jobs ever in the NFL basically.

I've never believe that Boston is a hockey town. Basketball is always more popular in just about every city that has both and that's not counting football or baseball. Everyone plays basketball. Kids that hate sports have a hoop in their driveway.

I should say I know people who I thought hate sports but are really big Patriot fans. Odd.

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

Sorry this is a monster number:

More World Series Game 6 Highlights:

Boston led all markets with a massive 55.2/75, the best MLB rating in the market since Game 4 of the 2007 World Series.

The super bowl being popular probably skews that number but this Sox number is monster. I doubt the Celtics or Bruins get that.

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

Boston is an all-four-sports town. Not many cities are like that. Philly is almost the same way, but a few years of bad baseball and basketball sours the fan base quick. Eagles rule the city.

Red Sox bring in more fringe local fans...and I put the Bruins 4th in the city for coverage

But and being a judge of the city living here for 35 years you won't find a more hardcore bunch of fans than Bruins fans in the city..they are a different breed.

Truth. Sometimes I regret wearing my B’s hat out. It ends up being a billboard for some random dude to ask me my thoughts on who should be playing defense on the 4th line or some shit.

lol yeah Sunday at the park I had a Bruins shirt on and some rando came over and told me he named his kid Tim Thomas the night before game 7 in 2011. No idea what I was suppose to say to that so I acted like my kid was calling me and walked away

He started the convo “see the little boy in the plaid shorts?” I thought he was calling dibs

Bruins revolutionizing the game by having a 4th line defensive pair?
