Yeah nobody in Boston likes the Bruins. A few users posting habits on this dmb fan site confirm that.

so because .005% of my total posts on a dave matthews band forum are about the bruins/NHL, me and the city of Boston are fairweather fans? :lol unreal

This, 100% for me. Growing up as a Whelers fan I pretty much hated every team in the Adams division! :lol

He’s wrong. Bruins are probably 4th fiddle in the city but it doesn’t mean it’s a fair weather hockey town. There’s just a lot of competition there and casual sports fans naturally flock to more popular sports. Bruins pretty much sell out every game, it’s not a fair weather hockey city.

This. Even when they suck the garden is still packed.

I love watching hockey but I think it’s boring as shit to talk about most of the time. Pretty much why I don’t visit this thread often

This. Major sports cities are going to have a fourth fiddle team. Philly and Boston have it. Doesn't mean their fans are fairweather.

Boston loves the Bs. There is no doubt about that.

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

Let me clarify so people don't accuse me of being a contrarian. The results have been shocking. If nobody is shocked that the favorites lost then Vegas did a bad job. Tampa going out like they did is shocking. That said there was a 70% chance they would not win the Stanley Cup. Right now Boston according to numberfire has a 20% of winning the cup which makes them the favorite. That means there is an 80% they won't win the Cup!

Can't believe nobody talks about the Islanders. Gave up 100 goals against this year compared to last year.

EDIT: A 1 seed has never been swept, no?

Fair weather was probably the wrong phrase, but theyre fans of convenience for sure. I know literally countless people from the greater northeast area that considered themselves boston fans that wouldnt bring up the bruins until the playoffs. Like im talking 15+ people and only 1 of them actually followed hockey closely. Mostly a bunch of whey protein mass-holes so I guess it was kind of expected.

But yeah id agree the 4th team in a city thing is a factor.

Got a last-second ticket, so I'm headed to San Jose tonight to watch the Avs decimate the Sharks. (Or so I hope!)

Incredible pass on the OT winner for the Canes, off the boards behind the goal.

Not sure I’ve ever seen that.

So let me get this straight a Pittsburgh fan is calling out another fan base about being fair weathered? Seems laughable to me. What were the Pre-Crosby attendance records like? I mean they almost moved the damn team

Canes/Islandes is among the most boring playoff matchups I can recall in my lifetime. There is just plain nothing to enjoy on a hockey IQ level, both teams just dump and chase hoping for loose change goals. So boring IMO.

Playoff hockey is ridiculous.

Nothing worse though than your team losing a game that goes more than one OT:shrug

There's a chance the ECF is CBJ vs CAR or NYI, and that's gotta be the worst case scenario for the NHL :lol

Yeah I think Bruins are going to win though. That would be bad though.
