They knew they missed the call but let’s not fall into the ref blaming trap. It’s an ugly bad call and it cost the Caps a huge goal but the refs are not the reason the Caps lost here. The second period was inexcusably unenthusiastic. They didn’t create anywhere near enough net front presence and made life way too easy on mrazek. The powerplay looked like shit again. A lot went into this.

That’s not why this one was called back. They deemed that Ovie pushed the pads of the goalie with his stick. And then they took another look and still decided that’s what happened.

It was just the rotation of the earth that made his lower body fly into the net.

Really, it was a coin toss call I think. Not melting would have been a smarter response maybe though.
