It's fuzzy, but the rule is "continuous motion". Basically, if the PLAYER is moving forward with the puck, it counts as continuous motion. Where it gets fuzzy with the Gaudreau goal is it could be argued he was no longer moving forward and was going kind of laterally. It's tricky to regulate that too much down close to the net when players are trying to make moves. My guess is that since he didn't stop completely, the ref allowed it.

The Oilers just finished inarguably their best 3 game stretch of the season. Smashed the Habs, lost to the Leafs 1-0 (and by all accounts should have won that game), and smashed the BJ's.
